This is a tutorial for using DropBox as a free file hosing service for adding images and files to your postings here. Using a free account there, you can get 2 gigabytes worth of free storage. But, in order to use it as a file host, you need to know where to put your files, and how to link to them. This tutorial will show you how in a series of images with short notes.
I do suggest watching the DropBox tutorial movie on the homepage there, but it's not necessary to. This tutorial only shows you how to use the website functionality of the service. You will have to teach yourself the application version if you choose to download it and use it directly from your PC.
Step 1:
Go to www.DropBox.com and open a free account.

Step 2:
Log in to your new account. Open Public Folder. All shared linked files must be in the Public Folder, or they won't work! Only files will work, not folders. If you need a folders contents to be shared, Zip it first, and share the link to the Zip file.

Step 3:
In the Public Folder, create a new folder.

Step 4:
Name the new folder.

Step 5:
Click link to Upload a file.

Step 6:
Click the Choose file button to open a local browsing window on your PC.

Step 7:
Select the file you want to add to your DropBox folder.

Step 8:
Click, Start Upload.

Step 9:
Right click, or click the mini arrow on the right, and select Copy Public link location.

Step 10:
In your forum post, paste the link text.

Step 11:
Highlight, then click the image button to add an image tag. Or, click the globe button if it's a Zip or PDF file.

Success! You can now create and edit the files and links in your posts. No more issues with revising files uploaded to crappy file sharing sites.
