I know there are colored versions of these for Gear Krieg walkers for sale at RPGnow and the like, but DP9 has released ( for free) the black and white versions of quite a few of those models. Grab them here. There are some scenery bits as well. I wonder how well these would fit in with ArmorGridGames:Mech Attack as "opposing forces" ? Hmmm.....! ~Floyd

Parduz, I see what you mean, I'm not sure if they have just been put together in hurry or if we're seeing design issues in the pics...

Well, parts have no "back", they're just "onesided". More, they're really not designed to be cutted as "we" are used to do. With modifications they can start to get closer to our standards but what a modder have to do is: - create the "backside" of the exposed parts - try the design as it is to see if it can be built only by paper (right now seems that the structure need chipboard to be assembled) and solve the problems that can arise. - Draw the glue tabs and make sure that the cockpits can "close"
Imho, they're really far to be good as Waffle's mechs.

I have to agree with that;
I downloaded a B&W template of one of those mechs and tried a build of it;
IMO what they're missing at this point is tabs to hold the cockpit together and front+backside pieces for everything else;
it's not anything anyone here can't do by himself provided the templates, but still it's a choppy release at best as it is now;
also it seemed to me the dpi value of the templates are kinda crappy, but maybe that's because I printed them on a networked printer for which I don't have optimized drivers, so I need to make some other tries with it...
anyway I think those tanks could get substantially better if just printed on cardstock/matte photo paper with front-back colored pieces, without gluing the thing on so heavy a substrate as the one in the pictures' link...
EDIT: oh, and amongst due modifications in order to coolify those templates, there should also be the one that puts a onemonk-esque black border around the pieces so that they can be cut more closely to the drawing without having to leave such a HUGE white gap as they're now...

I hesitate to comment, as Armor Grid: Mech Attack could be seen a a competing product (at least in the realm of paper minis- In all other aspects, we are small potatoes) and I'm a HUGE fan of DP9's artwork and games. But I see these as a great start to making GearKrieg Walkers. Tabs and backsides, as mentioned earlier, would make a huge difference. It may also help to beef up some of the components so they aren't so skinny (the Japanese Walker legs and arms come to mind). I just never liked the wide cut outs that leave a lot of white cardstock showing. It kills the illusion...
As is they need some work. But with a little effort/editing, they could turn out really cool.
