I hope you get things sorted out David.

Yeah, my wife asked me why I would put that on here, and I said in case someone might miss me... The more I thought of it, the more I realized that IF I did stop posting, not ONLY MIGHT someone miss me, but the Forum would run TOO smoothly... Seriously, I really did me good to read these posts tonight. The recovery will be long, and I am not sure of the outcome of this, but I can say, if it weren't for my BEAUTIFUL wife, I TRULY wouldn't be here now! Ok... enough with the mush. We have got stuff to work on, and I'm not sure if I am going to worry about posting more potential figures in future sets to see it the ones I did are even "usable" with my poor skills, and even older drawing program... I will TRY to continue to be a major poster, as I can... Talk to you soon, and I am willing to bet, I will tick someone off, and still manage to give you praise in the process... (That's to my friend, and you know who you are, Rev!)

We have got stuff to work on, and I'm not sure if I am going to worry about posting more potential figures in future sets to see it the ones I did are even "usable" with my poor skills, and even older drawing program... The only thing that matters is whether or not you enjoy doing it.If not then there are other unenjoyable pastimes that will likely give you a better return on your time.If however you do enjoy doing it then the next most important thing ,is to stop measuring your work against that of others regardless of whether they are hobbyists or publishers.Instead find merit in your work as measured against your other works & what you are capable of does it measure up to what you have done before & what you can do?If not try harder,If it does then there ya go.What you ,I ,or anyone else here(or anywhere else for that matter) creates is also subject to a persons perspective & tastes, what you consider phenomenal another may consider to be utterly useless & a waste of the artist efforts the reverse also holds very true.In the end it takes a mix of natural talent & learned skills, what any of us have varies from person to person & a higher level of natural talent can compensate for a lower level of learned skill & vice versa . As skill increases with practice then know that practice enough & you can create something that many (but not all as you'll never get everyone to agree on the same thing)will view as the best work here.Just remember no matter how good you get there is always someone somewhere better than you,& no matter how little you think of your work there will always be another who thinks less of their own. Glad to see you made it home & I wish you the best of luck in your recovery & as for the drawing program try gimp its free & you can get versions that work on machines as far back as windows 95 though those versions aren't as advanced as the newer ones it still may provide you with a better tool to use

It took me SEVERAL readings of this (over revisiting over the last few days). I FINALLY read this post to my wife, and she helped me see it as not a negative. I see now, DeathDragon, that you weren't tearing me and my abilities down, but were actually encouraging me. I see now that you were saying what I am doing is "ok" for what I have to work with. I see many people here as "personal friends" and even communicate with them OUTSIDE the forums here. I see their work and compare it to my own. My wife has a car that has On*Star, heated leather seats, XM Radio and a list of features that would fill 5 threads on this post... I on the other hand, drive a van that has issues with the electrical, and I never know if I can use my radio, windshield wipers, turn signals and so forth... One day I was driving down the road and head-liner fell out of it on my head.. I realize that my van isn't as good as my wife's car. The ONLY way I can have a vehicle as good as hers is to either buy a new one, or upgrade the heck out of mine (which neither is a realistic option at this point). I see now with this analogy, I am not a "Tommygun." No one is except him! That is why we need him on the Forum. On the same note, I guess there is only one me... So, what I am trying to say is, "Thank you for the input, and taking the time to post this encouraging thread!" Put a LOT of things in perspective.

It wasn't meant to to be a tear down, sorry if you took it that way even for a little while See that's why you don't see Dragons working as motivational speakers lol maybe I should have given a better example like say my house 1700 sq ft built in the 60's 1/2 acre decent shape its average for the neighborhood its in. If I hold it up to & measure its worth against say the worlds 50 most expensive homes then I have to conclude that I'm one step away from living in a cardboard box might as well dress in rags & go panhandle for change in the streets,on the opposite end of the spectrum if I hold it up to & measure its worth against say a mud hut located in an area of the world where there's no power ,sewer or running water then I'm forced to conclude that I'm living like a king, now kneel before king John you peasants . But In truth neither assessment would be true measure the house against itself & my needs & wants I'm then forced to realize that Its a very nice house really all that I need, I could ask for a little more space but I'm a bit of a pack rat I could just get rid of some stuff & have tons of space. In the end just keep drawing & submitting you're work to the horde Trust me you'll feel better about your work when you see a photo of you're minis assembled standing shoulder to shoulder with everyone Else's submissions

Actually, I just received a message from someone here that i have had... "Opposing conversations" with. Through it all, we kinda built up a respect for one another, and LSS (long story short), he sent me some re-colors/re-works of my Psi-Borgs. I guess what I am trying to say is that, I understand the points you were getting at, Dragon! I compare myself to INCREDIBLE artists here, and I JUST started doing my figures. If I compared my work now to the work of one "Mr. Weaver's" first submissions, who knows, maybe they would be comparable. In a few years, he could be comparing his stuff to ME! LOL! In short, to think that someone would take something I did and play with it and "clean" it up a little means that the stuff I did, no matter HOW rough, was still worth SOMETHING to someone else, at least in part! So, there you have it, I wanted to share my work so that at least one person could do something with it, and they have!@ Thank you all!

Hey kiladecus I don´t have a very long english vocabulary to say very pretty thing about, but you made an excelent work and you must be proud for it. I do not criticize anything here, i thing that all the works are excelents work becuse they were made with all the excitement from their authors and all will be awesome minis in a play table. Here there are excelents artists but this forum become so much more interesting because it has diversity. I think that make a critic to a mini is good to improve the work, but when the critics are to much and you finish a work and there are new critics, you correct this and finish it again and there are new critics, it become no fun and you start to hate your mini and you think that it is the worst work in the forum and you sorry to posted it. Everybody must enjoy this forum, enjoy to make minis and enjoy someone else work, should all feel like children here to enjoy and play, not like adults that think to much, we must let our imagination go and think that our work is good, and with the time it will be better. This forum is a awesome place where i´d found a group of peolple that enjoy the same that i like, and i feel that everyone here is a good person and i want to feel everybody like a friend although sometimes i couldn´t say all i want and other times i undestand the half of the thinks that someone say . I hope that you continue doing your espectacular work and i will continue downlading it

Thanks, Jose! Very nice words. I think that the people have a tendancy to be their own worst critics. All in all, I think that I will continue doing figures, and stop comparing my work to others, but instead look at it as adding to the collection of fun minis!

If you lack confidence in your own work, then you look for criticism, even when it's not there. I've changed my drawing style four times since discovering this site..... and I've finally settled on something I enjoy doing, halfway between drawing and painting really and I use real figures as my reference. they work great for our mordheim/warhammer games but they are nothing like the way I originally intended to draw

It was funny to stumble upon this thread I posted last year. I had just finished posting my Psi-Borgs and Skeletrons to the December Horde, when the bottom fell out of my life. I had just started working on one of Mel Ebbles models (from the Saga of the Uppity Robots) when all of this took place. I am here 10 months later, and I am trying to finish my submissions for the September Horde (easily distracted, you know) and I found this. The Reaver model was in pretty poor shape because it was only started (I think the first of like 28 steps). I dug it out of my "Printed Models That Need Built" stack of nearly 1 1/2" of cardstock... and I started working on it again, and managed to finish it today. It is kind of funny, and yet refreshing to think that I started it right before I ended up in the hospital. Here I am, nearly a year later, and my life is similar to where I was when this happened, BUT in another way, my whole life has changed. Granted, the ordeal I went through has NOT been easy, but the craft and this Forum have helped me out a LOT. (Nothing/no one has helped me more than my wife! If she wouldn't have found me when she did... I might look like my Avatar... ) Seriously! There are some great people here that I am proud to call "friends." (You know who you are...)
