Just thought I'd post a teaser to some WIPs: Humanoid Mechs! These are just quick test builds and have not had the edges colored or any other refinements (please ignore the glue smudges on the legs). They still need some tweaking to align better, but I think we're on the right track. Please let us know what you think.

Okay... those are AWESOME!
Can't wait for these!
I'm assuming there will be different color schemes?

I think that you're on the right track too. Can you post some frontal pics? Do the weapons from the first set "scale" well with these bodies? Do they get arms? Pics? Do they come in different size classes? ;D ;D ;D

Do they come in different size classes? ;D ;D ;D -Sorry, I don't have any frontal pics at the moment but I'll make sure I have some after the next round of tweaking. (That almost sounds dirty...) -They will scale with the existing weapons although the slot sizes may need some modifying. I'm also reworking the existing weapons to unify the slot size and simplify the outlines. This will make it easier to cut out the weapons and (thanks to some new rules in the works) allow for different sized weapons on each Mech. -Arms don't currently fit in with the Mech Attack Rules, but I'm thinking of having them as a freebie product. I may also add different torsos in the freebie product as these torsos are more "universal" for the different styles of Mech Attack Mechs. -Yes, they will come in the three size classes.

Here's a glimpse of some test builds of the updated Light Mechs. I haven't colored the edges yet, because these were just test fit. I've made some alterations to the basic mech designs and Dagger's mechs. In addition to adding humanoid mechs, these new design changes include: split torsos to give variation in arm placement, different arm positions, slotted legs instead of folded ones, three different leg types with three different positions, unified weapon slot sizes, and multiple weapon slot positions. The last mech on the right is actually the humanoid design legs with the standard cockpit. I've had to alter the humanoid shoulder placement, but haven't had a chance to test build it yet. So I included it with the standard cockpit to show how the parts are interchangeable.

Looks Great! I'm loving the new multi-slot weapon mounts... and the new leg designs look very dynamic... I'm anxious to see the humanoid :)

I played my first game of Mech Attack last night. Dang fun game if you ask me! It seems to me that on open terrain it favors the heavier units, but with obstacles it favors the faster, lighter units. But I don't know, I've only played one game so far. Keep up the good work. I look forward to showing this off at SaltCon.

Very awesome! How well do you think these would scale up?

The final versions will be at 300dpi, so this may upscale with minimal pixel-ing. That depends on the size you are increasing them to. These Mechs are designed at 15mm scale and they are about 45mm tall (not including any weapons or equipment that stick up above the top).

Just a small update to show the finished grey Mechs with the new multi-slot hardpoints. The humanoid Mech below has two Light Missile Launchers, the AMDS, and IWTS on the torso hardpoints. Each arm has a Light Cannon and a Medium Machine Gun. A little overloaded, so he'd end up being light on armor- but big on weapons! ;D The other Medium Mechs are shown without weapons to show the basic Medium Mech unit.

More teasers of the new Mech Designs! Below are a sampling of the new Heavy Mechs. Note the new multi-slots on the torso for mounting multiple weapons on each hard point. I'm hoping to release these by the end of this month, but I'll keep everyone posted as progress continues. And now a teaser for something a little further out! This is my next project after the new Mechs are done: Hex Grid: Corridor Tiles!

They're going to be released separately as "Armor Grid: Mech Factory". This set will include three different styles of Mech (standard, rounded canopy, and humanoid) with different leg types and positions. It will also include multiple torso selections with the options for forward or rear mounted weapons. And as per the original Mech Attack miniatures, they'll be supplied three sizes (Light, Medium, and Heavy) with three color patterns (gray, tan, and green).

Here's a glimpse at the successful test builds of the Heavy Mechs: The recolors are well on their way so these minis may be ready for release soon!

I wanted to show off some of kiladecus's builds. His original post can be found HERE I had never intended mech builders to attach the legs at the are slots and use the lower torso slot for arm mounts, but his design ideas open a lot of options for different mech styles. I can't wait to see what else he uses the "Armor Grid: Mech Factory" to build!
