I made this 15mm Field of Glory army by taking the Elven army and editing the graphics to remove the head dresses and add turbans. Along with de fancifying the troops somewhat. The elephants were done by taking a picture of a 15mm Indian elephant miniature I found online and editing. Color was added after printing using bic permanent markers. Gave me the ability to mark the coverings to denote the battlegroups better. Chariots were built up from my experience in other paper modeling, and all told I think it came out well. I have no issue with pulling out this army to field at a con -- played it at Coast Con last March in my first trial game of FOG. In any case, I never would have finished an army to try the game out without the OneMonk figured as a base, and the craft robo I picked up to do the cutting. Just wanted to drop a line and say how much the figures here really help try games with pretty darn good looking figures, without having to break the bank to try something new. www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=46409&id=1463570170(The album should be visible to everyone even if you don't do facebook.) Not the best photography, but if I was artistically minded I could have done everything better. Dwargon

You do have to sign in to view ...
The turbined elves turned out really well. I don't know what an Indian chariot is supposed to look like. Did they really use solid wheels?
But, hey, at 15mm, that's a small quibble. Nice work.
I like what I can see of the elephants. I'd like a better view of the different elephants with riders.

On the chariots, probably not solid wheels, but I did them without the aid of the craft robo, so I wasn't willing to risk screwing them up to make it more 'correct'. I'll see about uploading a few of the pics directly here. So people who avoid Facebook don't have to go there . Attachments:

very nice. 15mm seems really good for this type of game, but without a craftrobo, I can't really see me doing that much cutting.
Are there any figures on your wishlist?

As for a wishlist, I'm not sure. I have the hankering to get to work on a new paper army project, but I haven't settled on what. The hankering got me to looking to see what was new at onemonk, and led me to finally register here. I'm thinking about trying to get my local gaming group into something like Necromunda or Mordheim as an ongoing campaign, so I've been looking over the warbands here a bit and pondering. The effect of paper on the game table for a larger scale army game is quite dependant on the angle you are looking at it from. If I were to rebuild the Indians, I'd be looking to make one figure per base set at 90 degrees from the rest, so the opponent doesn't have to lean to the left or right to see something other than a line. Thus is how we learn.

Label the bases and trays along the edges that you see 'a line'?

I colorcoded the bottom of the bases of the battlegroups to make it clearer, but I think a fig or to in a pose to be seen head on would help a lot. Can't find my other pics of the elephants, but I do have the final version I printed in .gif. Attachments:

The lumpy leg on the rear guy on that is because I suck at drawing. But the scale hides a lot of flaws.

In preparing for this year's Coast Con, I found that this army is shown in one of their banner ads. If you go to the coast con site www.coastcon.org/index.php/location and cycle through the pages until you see the banner ad for "It's all about strategy" you'll see my indians on the right side facing a wall of pikes that doomed the elephants. Was a fun game, and obviously decent enough that the con photographers used that game for thier advertisements. Made me happy. Unlike the look on my face as I'm seeing the doom approaching in the pic.

It's always good to get recognition ... even in your army's demise.
Yes, you do look like the oracles have foretold your doom ... LOL

I've been thinking about making a couple of sets to play Hordes of the Things and seeing your army was encouraging, as the result is very good!
