Wow! A lot of people will be jumping for this great action. Is there a specific reason for doing this? Is it a prelude for something else?

Is there a specific reason for doing this? Is it a prelude for something else? It's business as usual. I've been trying to find the right price for my models ever since I started doing this, and $2 seems about right at this point. I want to make it easier to shop for my stuff, and I want to reach some new customers. Seems like the right direction to go.

Dave, I'd caution you to view this as a Sale. $2.00 is reasonable for several of the less complex pieces, but you do yourself no credit for underpricing some of the others.
This will get people that have not purchased your excellent wares to become accustomed to them and make plans to get more, but $3, $4 and even $5 is still a bargain for the more complex pieces.
Underpricing leads the consumer to not value what they are getting.
Just my two cents

Underpricing leads the consumer to not value what they are getting. This was said also when Big Jim lowered the price of his sets. I'd agree if what is sold are goods you need; for a hobby product like Dave's models, the value i see is how them looks on the table, and they're great. But i am the cheaper gamer in the world, and Dave have much more chances that i buy his sets for this price than for the old... this 'cause, if i need buildings, i'll need to build a whole village, and i cannot put 50-60 euros plus printing in a game. His free sets already solved my needs for a single house. I also think that i'm not the average gamer, which seems to me more willing to spend money than me, so i don't know how much my envision is worthing.

Yes thanks Dave you do high quality textures and nice easy build models. It's a nice mix.
I know every one of you designers is feeling a bit of the pinch from the Recession and well the general idea that you can really only sell an individual model once to a person. So I appreciate you trying to get a larger demographic. Just beware the price drops! Keep it (imo) in the $2-$5 range for a majority of your models. And a little more for the bigger individual models. So you have some breathing room.
But you know best. And I'm just preaching to the choir anyway...! LOL
Keep up the great work.

Thanks, although I'll need to check out which models I already own before I can make plans to take advantage of this offer. And, as usual, you're mean .

Whereabouts, verminking? Warseer won't let me post anything there unless I buy ad space. Which I should.

Someone was talking about his board and thought he might buy some of your models to get it finished out faster. So I mentioned the sale, and there were a few comments about needing to take advantage.
They wouldn't stop some of us from posting in your thread, would they?
Edit-- I posted it. We'll have to see if they remove it or not

I've learned some things after experimenting with the $1.95 price point. It's the right price for some models, but people really do see price as an indication of quality. And I think my stuff is as good as anything produced by other papercraft companies, and should be priced accordingly.
So in about a week I'll be moving to a new pricing structure -- yeah, that means I'll be raising the prices on some models. You've still got some time to take advantage of the $1.95 pricing and grab some of your favorites.
For small/medium-sized models with single textures, the price will stay at $1.95, which seems fair to me.
For larger models, and models with multiple textures, expect to see prices from $2.95 to $4.95, which also seems fair to me.

Mel Ebbles (Chris Roe) had an extended discussion about the price perceptions in the hobby, proving as my econ profs said, that a lot of economics is psychology ("Five bucks for paper?"). I've got a customer who regularly mails me once a year to complain about my pricing (and it's usually about a $2-3 model), and like you, I've priced as close to break-even as possible. I feel sorry for anyone trying to actually earn a living as a one-person studio.
