I was wondering if anybody out there had cut files for the forum HOARD submissions that are not currently on the website? I'm trying to get them all together.

Heya Nik, Where is there a list of what's up and what's missing? I may have some of the missing ones and, if not, then I'd be happy to make a few. I finally get my laptop back this week.

Hey that would be sweet! Basically if the website doesn't have it listed for download ('GSD cutting' button), then I don't have it. The exceptions are the new HOARD sets compiled by sirrob and that ballista (since I did find that). I'm focusing on the later ones since those are the ones I don't have pictures for. They would include: 41-54 (but I don't think 47-49 really need a cut file. They are mostly just straight cuts), 69-83 (excluding 73).

I will take care of Hoards #41 through #45 as those are all my submissions. I should have GSD's for 58 and 59, need to dig around a little. After I take care of those I'll see what else needs doing.

Oh wow, you're gonna throw me back into con mode again with all that stuff I need to print and assembly (and photograph). I've redone the pdf layouts of hoard 33 & 34 since they were still back on the old style (not GSD compatible). Now the original Devils-Imps GSD file will also work for them (the one you put up). I also did a few pictures to try and match the originals that Jim has done.

It's Christmas in March. I found some errors in the positioning of the swords of the Goblin riders in Hoard #44 so I'll be revising the pdf for that one. (sad face because it was my mod and I didn't catch it on the first go round)

(sad face because it was my mod and I didn't catch it on the first go round) I am so glad you are revising those. ;D I made the mistake of printing out a whole bunch of them so I could squish Nik with my army of goblin wolf riders, and as I was cutting them out I noticed the error. It brought me great frustration.

Well they now also have a cut file and a few are sitting on my kitchen table as we speak. Who's gonna get schooled now!

In other news; my laptop is finally functional again so I'd like to complete my spider-cavalry project after I finish making the Hoard GSD's.

So I'm still getting these together. Thanks for all those cut files I think I've got them all cut out up to this point. I'm working on edging now:

Is that tempra you're edging with?

Is that tempra you're edging with? I'm not quite sure what tempra is... I'm just using a water-based black paint. I add quite a bit more water and the edging goes very quickly (faster than a marker in my opinion and I can get into tighter corners).

The acrylic paint I use for other projects comes in bottles that look like that. Don't know why I didn't think to use it to edge minis ...

Is that tempra you're edging with? I'm not quite sure what tempra is... May be this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distemper_%28paint%29Here is called "tempera" and kids use small tubes of that at school 'cause it is non toxic, dilute with water, and you can wash it from clothes Standard set bought by almost all 6-y-o kids the first year of school

Tempera in Argentina is the same that saying Parduz

Yes, Parduz understood my horrible spelling. The bottle looked the same as tempera. I'd heard of ink and brush and someone had once mentioned "water colour" but "water based acrylic" makes more sense. Tempera is water based but not (I think) acrylic.

Tempera is that egg-based paint that has a tendency to flake after drying. Usually powder, but sometimes a thick liquid. Usually dries flat, not glossy. Water-based acrylic is not so likely to flake. It can be flat, but is usually glossy. Much easier to work with. www.misterart.com/grouppix/280x210/1000/g1276.jpg

I've actually wondered if paint edging would be quicker, do you edge from the rearside (unprinted) Nik, then glue the halves together?

|
Post by nikloveland on Mar 9, 2011 5:41:53 GMT -9
No, I still glue the cut mini first and then edge. I usually edge most of the mini and then wait for it to dry so I can edge the rest of it (where my fingers where holding it the first time around). I also look for any spots I missed on that second go around. One con I can think of is using paint isn't as portable as a marker (for all those who edge on the go .

I would think that a paintbrush would get into the little nooks and crannies left from alignment issues better than a marker.
Or am I the only one that doesn't get things perfectly straight when gluing and cutting?
BTW, I was building a vehicle last night and used the paint method to go around the tires where the tread meets the sidewall and it had a much better result than edging with a marker, building the wheels and touching up with a marker again.

When we get around to a tips and tricks thread this should go on it. If you want to edit out my ignorance about tempura, that would be good.

Boy that's a load of good work! Great job! Now I've got to get my butt in gear and get those HOARD files done. I have managed to get all those guys cut but I've got family here this weekend so unfortunately I need to clean up my mess (the wife claims the kitchen table is for eating not paper minis... ) Hopefully when I get the HOARDs done, I will be able to put up the new website (fingers crossed). That way at least all the HOARD Forum Submissions will be available.

I forgot to mention I did find two PDFs that would still need cut files. They are both from HOARD 86 (which doesn't actually have a link on the site yet, so that's my fault ). One of the pages is Dryw's Imperfect Zombies and the other is only three models. Here's the link: paperminis.org/HOARD86NoGSD.zip
