Here are some figures I'm building to play zombie scenarios with Fear and Faith. Surely, there are great horror paper minis (like Darkmook sets on RPGNow) but I'm interested in building some 15mm minis (rather than resizing 28mm ones) to see what I can do at this scale. They are my first figures in Inkscape and only after a while I realized that I should be doing outlines on one layer and filled shapes for coloring on another. For this reason, they are uncolored and I'll probably add color in Gimp. Pictures of a print test can be found at: fantalonia.blogspot.com/2011/02/zombie-survivors.html

Here is the full set of zombie survivors I intend to use on my short campaign.

Here are the remaining miniatures used in my Fear and Faith campaign. First, the four zombie variants.

Then the alternate set of survivors. They are small variants from the first set. I actually used some of them to replace the ones that died in the games.

And lastly, the blank hex bases that I used to mount the miniatures.

Will you be doing color versions? I really like these. Enormous amount of character and economy of line. I would think they will work very well in 15mm. When you rescale 28mm mini's, they often come out too dark, or details smudge. These should print up very nicely.

I actually have plans to make color versions, trying to use a flatter shading and higher contrast than in 28mm.

Turns out coloring these figures was a lot faster than 28mm. I did a test print after the flat colors were applied and was happy with the result. After that I tried adding some shading to one of the figures but I didn't like the result: it was either too hard to notice or darkened the figure too much. I'll have to practice this but, for now, here is a color version of the survivors and zombies. [Edit: these models have 20mm from head to foot. Printing them at about 75% scale should make them "proper" 15mm. Personally I prefer them at this slightly larger scale.]

Exactly! I bet they will print up very nicely. I might have to have some of these printed for 28 mm

This is a very interesting experiment, gilius. I see, that you used the same rules of disproportion for 30 mm on your 15 mm minis, but even to the extreme: the smaller the mini, the larger the head and more body shortage. This works really well. And I am astonished, that there is no shading as effective at this scale as I might think. So, no flesh wounds for the zombies ? What about the skull symbol on the leather jacket ? I have to try this out ... .
Thanks for sharing your inspiring work, gilius.

Thanks for the comments! The exaggerated proportions make them very cartoonish but the features are distinguishable on the table.
As for the shading, I think it's mostly a matter of my lack of skill/experience. Painted metal 15mm minis use simpler shading than bigger ones but there is shading anyway. There must be effective techniques for shading 15mm paper minis too.
This reminded me to check the Armor Grid infantry units I have printed here. They have vertical light-dark gradients on main volumes of the model (chest, helmet, shoulder pads...) and the result is very nice.

I couldn't resist attacking these with my hamfists. I have butchered every figure and enjoyed it. I hope someone thinks they're ok!
