Well I finished the catapult Saturday night like I wanted to. I had to stay up til 12:30 to do it, but I did. And yesterday I put one together to see how badly I messed up. Surprisingly there aren't too many errors to fix. I do need to correct a couple of things and add some details that I left out in my haste, but those shouldn't take long. Here is what it looks like. All of the wood grain is painted by me. I couldn't find a grain texture that I wanted to use for it, so I just did it myself. This set should be ready for release soon. Most of the work is done. Perhaps a couple more hours to fine tune it and that should be all.

Very good Finaly something to besiege Dave Graffams buildings! I'm sure you own some ruins, too, for after the bombardment. LOL

Before and after How cool will that be in a game..... start with intact buildings then swap them when damaged.

Before and after How cool will that be in a game..... start with intact buildings then swap them when damaged. We did that in a Command Decision (6mm WWII game system) once. A friend of mine had made a bunch of buildings as small boxes, where the lid/top part was a complete building, and the bottom/inside part was the same building as a ruin. When a building was destroyed by bombs or shells, we just had to remove the lid and leave the rest as a ruin. /Cobra

Here in the good ol' U. S. of A., we have toys that are made from forked sticks and rubber bands that we call "slingshots."
Some cultures call them "catapults."
Have fun! Steve

Just wondering if all this silence is due to some security problem: ;D Yeah... about that... I was getting ready to get designing, when my whole family was sick. I think we were just swapping illnesses back and forth for a few weeks. I had several different types of sickness all in a row. Once I recovered from that, I have no excuse. I've just been having difficulty getting back into designing. I have been working on the same rough sketches of my command group for several weeks now without much progress at all. I wonder if I should maybe do another set next instead of the command group. I might just be lacking inspiration on this set. Maybe I'll work on some barbarians instead. I guess that's just how life goes sometimes.

Sometimes to get the juices going, it helps to do the least practical/pragmatic thing you can think of.

I guess that's just how life goes sometimes. Do you ever build units of your figures just for funzies? I just put together a group of 12 of your human spearman figures. I made a banner for them by printing out a sheet, cutting out a couple of full-on shields, and gluing them front-and-back at the top of one of the unit's spears. I used a swordsman in the same color scheme for the spear unit's officer. If it helps you any, here is one fan looking forward to the time when you release the command group for these figures. I'll post some pictures when I get my digital camera back from my nephew! Have fun! Steve

Yeah, I'm trying to mix things up a bit. I'm going to do a barbarian unit. So far the pencil is flowing nicely. I think once I get them done the command group should be easier to knock out. Doing something different will help me get back into the groove.
And yes it does make me feel better to know I have a fan waiting for more stuff. I would love to see some pics of what you've been working on.
As for the release of the catapult, Nik has informed me that he is nigh unto launching the new site. He wants to use the catapult as the guinea pig to make sure it works the way it's supposed to. He further informs me that the new site will be ready in about a week, or sooner. He is pushing to get it up this weekend if he can.

I used to have a white-metal catapult model manufactured by Grenadier that had a big, flat skull of some kind of critter like a ceratopsian dinosaur mounted across the diagonal braces at the front end of the machine. A 2D optional feature like that could be a good way to distinguish a "bad guy" catapult from a "good guy" catapult.
Have fun! Steve

Oh boy, I'm making some serious progress. I'll be sending you some sketches to review as soon as I can get home to my scanner. I can already forsee the flaws you will point out, and the great advice you will give to fix them.
