building what's there wouldn't be so bad. it's all the stuff that isn't modeled that has to be built that would be awful. No tabs, no engines, no weaponry. all that would have to be made up as you go.

Okumarts, do you want to make it from paper or plastic?
Plastic would be easier for a single model.
In the time it takes to make a colored template, you could be done.
I use a wooden ship modelers technique called bulkhead construction.
I just use plastic instead of wood. That cutting template you linked to is a good starting point, you just need to build a frame to help support it.
Don't worry about getting the frame perfect as you wont see it after the outer layers are on.
Car Bondo will also help. Just get a basic skin on the frame and then add layers of panels to add detail.
