Hi everyone! ;D First off I have to say I love all the minis here and the work put into them, theyre absolutly awesome. Ive been a member for a wile, but this is my first post (I plan on posting more, lol). I was wandering as a request if someone would be up to making something similar to a Tau Drone in 3D or 2.5D, with the different style modifications (Gun drones, Shield drones, Marker drones, Sniper drones, and Heavy gun drones)? Also be in the 30mm scale / 1in base to match up with the scaling of some troops like the terra force troops. Main reason I need the drones is Im in the process of putting a sci-fi space ship / base (dungeon crawler) style game together and could really use some Drones to help the heros. ;D Any Ideas or design work on this would be greatly healpful. ;D

A circle for the top,m and the guns and mount in a "U" shape that you fold the guns down and glue the mount to the underside of the cirle.

A design like that would work well. ;D
I also considered just buying the models but Im using a 1" grid tile system and wasnt sure if the bases that come with most of the Drones would fit with that?

Like this? If it works, you're welcome to it. I should add that it's entirely my work, so no IP infringement, none of that pesky lawyer cease and desist stuff. Glenn Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Actually those will work great for a wile and thanks! ;D The main thing I play at the moment is Mels GunCrawl, because I love the way the rules and gameplay is set up, so Im alway looking for stuff to add to it lol.

I never got a straight answer out of Mel on whether Gun Crawl is going to the new site.
I hope so

I imagine it should at one point along with the prop sets, since Im sure it was fairly popular, but thats just a guess. Its a great game tho and has lots of customization to it. Also just the way the mechanics work make battles feel more realistic. GunCrawl is all I really do modeling for anymore since I really like Sci-fi squad based (dungeon crawler style) battle more than vehicle battle. Also I really like the fact that GunCrawl can be played solo. Its definitly my number 1 favorite tabletop game so far. Ive also considered getting Firstlight from WWG and using it with the GunCrawl rules cause it would work great and it would look even sweeter! ;D

Mostly out of curiosity, what would it cost to have someone design the diffirent style drones in a 2.5D or 3D model to scale with the Terra Force Troops and such (if it's possable that is)?

Well, for one thing, you would need to not call them Tau. Seems like Jim had some figures once that he pulled because he used that term and some legal department made it prudent to completely pull them rather than just renaming them.
Someone might be willing to do this, but they would need to be careful in how it is presented. I'm not sure, but I think that maybe that is why Glenn calls these Air Cavalry Drones ...

That would make sence. Air Cavalry Drones actually sound really good too, lol. Definitly would want to stay away from all the legal snags lol.

give me a few days--gottta get a commercial release out first. 2.5/3D is easily done from the 3d model I used to make the flats.

*** Thaught I'd give the thread a little bump, Lol *** ;D
Was wandering if someone still wanted to make the different Drones in 3D or 2.5D as close and detailed to the model version as possible, and in a few designs and colors, and also in a couple mods for them I'm thinking of in my head.
If someone was interested I can message all the specs on what I'm wanting. Also I'll be happy to answer any more questions, just send me a message. ;D

and, of course, my Air Cavalry: Drones were designed specifically for this purpose--to fill the WH40K role without IP infringement (and just just generally add to the fun you've prepared for your loathsome foes who deserve no less).

Lol, Ya I think I'm planning on getting the Air Cav Drones and Scouts too. I do have a quick question about them tho, what is there size and base size? I'd plan on using them for GunCrawl but the hallways are only 2" wide with a 1/2" grait on each side, lol.

This was more of I had an idea in my head and I needed a proof of concept model to make me happy. Now that I have a working prototype, it will be a simple matter to lose the antenna and change the disc and gun art. They would mage excellent sentries for my Marvel Campaign. To answer UpTrainFan's question about size, the disc is 1.25" across. I went with a size that would also nicely double as a flying base, like Glenn's Air Calvary. Which now pretty much ensures that I'll be making some super villain, or robot, riding a flying disc in the near future
