I agree with scenery/buildings, vehicles and 2D/3D figures should be separated--I think that a front-back figure flat is a good-looking, high quality, accessible, cheap, quickly-made, and most importantly an easy alternative to traditional plastic and metal minis. While I'm amazed by some of the stuff guys on here can do with 3D paper sculpting, to me that stuff should be judged like the art that it is, definitely in a different class of construction than creation of a 2D figure.
Also, I'm wondering if there should be a further distinction between big scenery combos, as in a diorama vs. table build.
For example, Tommygun's Illegal Aliens submission is definitely what I would consider a "diorama," with posed figures in a scene, including ground surface, terrain pieces, and backdrop.
Jerry's Harbor Town, which is amazingly done and clearly took skill and patience, I would consider more of a table build or themed scenery set.
While setting up my Western town, I had an internal monologue that kept asking, is this a diorama, or a full-blown table build?

Interesting, I hadn't thought about the matter of table build vs. diorama. It really seems better to have the two categories. The awards submissions are great to show the diversity of approaches... I've been linking them to friends to convince them of the potential of paper minis.
May I make a suggestion for the 2012 submissions? (If you say "No" it can't stop me from posting it here anyway...)
Perhaps next year you can have a separate post for each series of submissions. (E.g. one thread for Warband, one for single figure, etc.). It will help keep things more uniform and not so scattered.
Also, maybe have a thread where everyone can post all their stuff (and unlimited pictures). But on the judging threads just post ONE picture of each submissions. I guess what I am trying to say is, have a thread like th one that was here, BUT have three threads (one for each category) with only ONE picture of each submission. That way people can look at the pictures and make the judgement for each item they want to vote for.
Just my suggestions... afterall, who am I?
Game Designer, BETA Tester, Model Designer, Figure Designer... HEY! It's what I do...

Thank you to everyone who has voted this year. The polls are now closed. We will try and get the results out soon. And a very special thank you to all those who submitted. We're of to a great start and it will only get better as the paper model hobby grows.
gothique: Family is certainly a great analogy. I am always delighted by the amount of support and exchange of ideas in tis extended family

Vermin King: There has been a lot of talk lately about 'community'. I do think we are more like 'family' here than 'community'. Not that community is bad, but family is better

okumarts: I haven't heard much except that his wife said that they are looking to see if there is any lasting damage or if it is hospital dementia after coming out of the surgery. I'll have another look around. Ugh, this is just awful.

Vermin King: Got to see Jeff Beck at one of those. Pretty cool. Only time I saw Adrian Belew was at a club gig in KC. Now, I am trying to get Mom up and running on Pandora for old country music. It's her first smart phone

Vermin King: I think I have it going now, Barbara Streisand hasn't come up on Willie Nelson in over 48 hours. Back when I was in Cleveland, a disc jockey was formerly with Peter Frampton's band. He set up club gigs for folks

senkosmos: I'm a fan of every artist you mentioned, particularly Jeff Beck (Beck, Boggart & Appice being among my top 3 heavy blues albums, I'ts certainly a pity that Pandora is given you such a hard time to listen to Belew

Vermin King: I then did another search and started a new Adrian Belew station. It did have 'Artist Only', but the Thumbs Playlist would only go to eight songs. If I added a song, it deleted another. I think I now have it fixed. Didn't have that problem with others

Vermin King: Back to Pandora. I doubt that there are many Adrian Belew fans here, but on Pandora he is jinxed. I deleted the radio station since it did not offer 'Artist Only' mode, and the Adrian Belew Radio Thumbs Playlist never existed.
