Coming up with the basic characters is a bit more challenging than I thought it would be. I'm thinking: -Fighter -Elf -Thief -Mage -Cleric -Dwarf It's the other 6 that currently elude me. Any requests?

I'm not sure why you don't just release it with your "FREE" set that was released. I would still buy it even if I already had the figures... that is just me, I guess.
Why not do some multi-class or advanced classes:
- Barbarian - Ranger - Paladin - Monk - Necromancer - Druid
That might be one way to go.

I will be including stats for the free set characters to "drop in" to this game, but I wanted some fresh minis just for this game. Ok, good start for suggestions.

How about male versions and female versions? That would make up the other six.

Actually, if you are doing layers, you could do BOTH my suggestions as well as Dryw's!
Layer one: Wizard/Mage Layer Two: Necromancer
Layer One: Elf (Ranger) Layer Two: Elf (Female Ranger)
Layer One: Fighter Layer Two: Barbarian
Just saying...

I'd offer up:
Hobbit Gnome (preferably illusionist, but tinkerer would be okay) Archer/Ranger Acrobat/Jester Assassin Druid
If I were picking the other six...
Just my 2 cents though, I'm sure these minis will rock just like all your sets.

OK, cool, thanks for the fast response on that. I'm wondering about monsters for this set. Characters will be relatively weak (comparable to 1-3 level). Any quick requests that you can't live without?

Have you thought about having more distinction between classes and races? For example, "Elf" and "Dwarf" races can be fighters, mages, rangers, etc... So if you have 4 races and 4 classes then that gives you the potential for 16 models...

I understand that variations goes up exponentially, but i'll second Dryw request: playing with kids requires to have a figure of the same gender of the player. So i'd ask to have both genders for each race, and then, in the future, the same classes for the all the races. Yes, it's a lot of work, but i'll buy without even looking at a preview a set with so much variations.

I'm another male/female requester. As Kil said anyway you can work in the minis from darkfast set zero as extra hero's? That would cover of some and give you a legup on variety. as to others so many combinations, I mean there are two styles of halflings alone (tolkien vs D&D) + gnomes. maybe start with the basics like basic fantasy has (basically old 1st ed D&D), this provides limited combination to start with: Dwarf - Cleric, Fighter, Thief Elf - Cleric, Fighter, mage, thief Halflings - Clerics, Fighters, thief Humans - Cleric, Fighter, mage, thief, Then add some exotics for interest edit missed monsters Kobolds Rats (giant) Goblins

not sure on how/if this could be implimented but what about using layers to show a characters progress? maybe one layer have the figure in cheaper armor or with less expensive gear, then the next layer have some upgrades to his out fit and so on.most paper figures I see have the Knights in real top of the line stuff and a character just starting usual can only aford some cheap leather etc. Just an idea.

There is a set that a staged level of figures might work. This current set will have 12 fantasy characters with a layer for female versions of the same basic character (at least two colour options) and three pages of dungeon monsters. Of course there will be game rules, game tiles, character cards, event cards, trap cards, treasure cards, dark secret cards, talent cards, monster cards and gear cards.

GREAT!
I think that as Sir Rob said, grab a D&D Fiend Folio, open up to six pages randomly and there you have it!
I would say, ONCE AGAIN, since you have so MANY beautifully figures, why can't you pull a Todd McFarlane, and just do some recolors to some of your existing figures. You have your elves, why not throw some bluish skin and white hair on them and you have DROW!
Why not a centaur or two? My suggestion on this... give him a sword, and a bow (even if the bow is mounted on his back). Give him a decently armored chest plate and a beard! EVERY centaur looks the same, I for one would like to see something original. Also, a layer change might be a cleric/shaman/mage!
Just a couple ideas.

The Beasts and Barbarians set had some massive technical issues and then school happened, but there has been plenty of play testing for a dungeon game similar to Katana Schoolgirls as well as a spaceship battle game for Retrospace. I just wish there were more hours in a day.

One of my players had a specific request for his gnome artificer (a shovel as a weapon), so I modded one the characters from Set Zero. Enjoy Attachments:

That's great Afet! Love it. I have been play testing the fantasy game as I said. It's actually becoming a fairly workable (if deadly) system as a roleplaying game. I may have to expand my original concept eventually. Here are a couple of scenes from last night's epic adventure:
