Here's some stuff I did with hosstriches for Quactica: The original drawing: Some cardstock figures I made with MS Paint at 96dpi: Have fun! Steve

I did these before I converted to Jim's One Monk style of figures.
They have integral instead of tabbed bases. The green ground flaps are folded out, and the white bottom flaps are glued under to form a T-stand base.
The purple areas are cut off to make a 1"X2" base, and I glue a couple of washers to the bottom with epoxy to give them weight.
The blue areas can be trimmed as closely to the figure as the modeller is comfortable trimming. The white edges can be run over with a light blue marker or colored pencil.
Boy, it's been a couple of years since I dusted these guys off!
Have fun! Steve

I like them. They have a very vintage feel, to me; they recall me my dad '50/'60 comic books. And immediatly after this, i thought to Joust (the '80 arcade game)

Thanks, Parduz!
It seems that most things I do have a vintage feel to them. Maybe that's because I have gradually become vintage myself! ;D
And I DID read a lot of '50s-'60s funny animal comic books myself... back during the '50s-'60s!
Have fun! Steve

The 96dpi probably contributes to their "comic book" feel.

Perhaps is the resolution, but i've got that feeling from the original drawing. I think it comes mostly from the eyes style (both of the Hosstrich and of the "quack"): that eyes makes me remember the old Mickey Mouse comics, and the whole drawing recalls a bit Alley Oop

I can see what you mean about the eyes. I'm glad the drawing reminds you of Alley Oop. V.T. Hamlin, the guy who originally drew Alley Oop, has always been one of my favorite comic artists!
Have fun! Steve
By the way, I've been googling "soldatini di carta" lately, and am finding some traditional paper soldiers that I like very much!
