6 weeks later from when it arrived to me, after 3 weeks of painting miniatures, i have finally played Earth Reborn, from Z-Games.
I just want to say that it is, along with Heroscape, one of the best boardgames of the last 20 years (not that i'm comparing ER with HS: it were like comparing the best Beethoven simphony with the best '80 pop song).
You can fight, shoot, interact with the map (using the devices you find or blowing out doors and walls), you can use timed explosives, torture enemies or resurrect them as zombies, you can spy, search for equipement, react to the enemies and move as a whole squad.
If someone of you played X-Com, or even LaserSquad on the C64 in the '80, you'll feel familiar with this great game.

That is the kind of recommendation that the designers of the game would love to hear.
Thanks for sharing

uhm... that song never arrived in italy.... i don't feel it belonging to ER, but i know that each one have his own way to link music to "real things".
The more i play ER, the more i like it. The game itself, while not being a failure, is not selling as expected. If i were you (or anyone that may like skirmish on a grid) i'd buy it now, 'cause: 1) there's still hope that, being sold, ER will be kept alive by the publisher with small expansions and new scenarios 2) it will become a "rare classic" in the future.
There's not really need to rush (to keep the price low i read they produced 7500 boxes....!), but i'd wait for some deal (seems that Tanga sold it for half the price) and then buy it.
If not for the game, the miniatures and the "over-modular" tiles are something useable on every game we can think...

This game looks very good... but then I checked the cost of shipping on some online boardgame stores... to get it down here to Brazil it costs around US$50 and that's using US postal service... couriers would charge more than US$100.

I haven't started playing mine yet. One minor quibble I had when I looked at the rules and components is that I don't like the border and figure I'll never use it. That said, the miniatures were well done and the components high quality. Naturally, I'll be playing it with an eye toward 3D buildings. ;D

.... I don't like the border and figure I'll never use it. Do you mean the "puzzle" frame? If yes, it is there to keep the map in place, other than for score track. I think it the less noticeable component... i mean: it serve it purposes, and don't cause any trouble. I'd liked more a "less modular" map: bigger tiles could have cut down the setup time a lot, and this is, imho, the only problem of the game.
