How can you ask that? It's for your aesthetic appreciation ;P
Seriously now, when I first saw it I thought it was some kind of dice game... maybe it can be turned into one.

It is generic specific. The arena area comes with inserts you can use to spice your games up. One of them has an eight part wheel with matching cards and there is a random hit location The cards take advantage of Adobe's forms so you get to add your own text to the cards! I've already printed a bunch up for use in my GURPS games for making combat easier for newer players. The cards available are 1-8 (each with a rune) Sword, Skull, Dove, and Shield symbols. For GURPS I use those last four images for the combat cards. The sword for all attacks ( i.e.: Move & Attack, All-Out Attack), the skull for afflicted conditions (i.e.: Surprised, HP = 0 or less, Stun), the dove for passive actions (i.e.: Evaluate, Ready, Aim, Do Nothing) and the shield for defensive actions (Dodge, Parry, All-out Defence). Or you could use them for your own game. Roll Arena is just a very fun Game Aid!

I thought it would make a nice Dice Rolling tray. Has a nice set of drawers for cards and dice. Build a couple for your gaming friends so they will keep from playing figure bowling with the dice and miniatures...
Otherwise, it's an interesting addition to include a functional use for it besides a dice coral. Beautiful texture work and cleaver/solid build. But I'm not rolling any metal dice on it like the promo pic shows...

I think it's a pretty cool idea. It adds some flavor, and functionality for rpg's. I just might have to get it for my wife. She's always miniature bowling in our games. And the card drawer would be sweet for my Pathfinder wizard's spell cards! And I'm willing to try out anything that might change my luck with the dice. ;D I'm the worst dice roller on the planet. Just ask Nik. I lose almost every Bellicose battle, and most of the time, it's pure dice rolls .

I'm the worst dice roller on the planet. Just ask Nik. mmh... i take this as a duel challenge! This forum is'nt large enough for TWO dice loosers! I lose almost every Bellicose battle, and most of the time, it's pure dice rolls . I'd change some mechanic, then

It's true (except for that one time you were the Faeries and the roots could still move anywhere on the tabletop)... I'd change some mechanic, then That's why we keep it that way I think it would need a few more card slots for me to be able to use it in Descent. Still very cool though.

If you build two bases and glue one on top of the other, you'd double your drawer space. I saw a dice tray on another forum that looked to be 15" or a little wider with storage bins on both sides of the rolling area. Sounds like kitbash time.
Maybe Mel will hop on here and decide to do a second version.

I would just let this pass, then I saw the hit location insert. Perfect for GURPS!
Just roll 3d6 with one dice of a different color, where the special dice hits, there's your hit location!
Just perfect! I just need to house rule something about the brain and vitals hit location, special cases of head and torso, respectively. Maybe when the special dice lands on head/torso and it's result is 1? (lower is better in GURPS)

Plus I'm remaking the combat cards using the editable cards from this set.

I like the design, too, although I havn't used mine much. I think I will try to mod the card sheets so I can make more of a single design rather than one of each per page. That's a minor issue, though, and for now I'll stick with my table for the rituals of our resident Tiefling DMPC support character (long story).
only issue I have with this is that the card tray is a little bit flimsy, and tends to get stuck. I'll try to rectify this by adding a stripe of paper to the bottom and, possibly, to the sides of the arena itself.

The card tray does seem to be the biggest weakness, with strengthening the bottom the most common fix tried. I'm tempted to try building that tray at 99%, to fix the sticking problem. Let us know if the added piece along the bottom works. - Pb

If you have a pdf print driver you can print your cards to pdf which means it will save the pdf with the text on it!

If you have a pdf print driver you can print your cards to pdf which means it will save the pdf with the text on it! True, but what I meant it that I do not need the different symbols on each page for my carding needs, rather three times the same one. Come to think of it, I should probably put some thought to what I'd need carded for my games, before I start messing around with it... It's a good point, though, and I hadn't thought of it yet...

I built one of these as well - before most of the suggestions came out, so my drawers are flimsy and pretty sticky in-and-out. One thing I did that was new was to print on glossy cardstock that I bought from behind the counter at a Fedex Office copy center. Though it's a little fussier to deal with possible ink smudging, I like the results quite a bit: More pics at photobucket.com/gameaidsI like the idea of reprinting the drawers at 99% - I think I'll try that. Too bad I can't retrofit the suggestion to put rails in the bottom layer for the card drawer. Maybe I'll attempt that mod anyway...

One thing I'd like to add is that the two dice drawers fit well enough, although only in one combination, it helped me to switch them and check.

I used the card template (and cut files) to make custom cards. Pretty nice (especially with glossy stock), but a lot of work per card (even with a cutter...)
Size the art to fit, print, cut, glue and edge - 3 cards per sheet.
I MSE to make sheets of custom card (inserts with sleeves) and get 9 per page.
Has anyone come up with a technique for making those double sided?
