So, my son expects his players to aquire a ship soon and asked me to make him one. I dove into my hard drive and came up with a ship by Shadowolf which I think I got from MMiP. I enlarged it and changed it around a bit. I printed it on paper and then mounted it on a large sheet of bristol board so I could splice the two halves of the sides together. There are three pages in total. www.onemonk.com/guest-dl.html

I left the margin on the large beige area to be the tab for the mast when you roll it up. The little shed goes on the fordeck with the mast going through it and the second mast (just cut the long tube in half) goes on the poop deck. ( ha ha, I said "poop!" )

Beautiful coloration, but I kinda feel like I just got a puzzle in a box with no lid to see what it is supposed to look like on the back end.
Do you have a pic? Or which showcase was it from?

Excellent! We have another paper-crafting session Saturday. Isaiah, my friend Andy's son, is wanting more figures and ground vehicles. Oh, and a submarine. Andy wants to work on a more complex air/space vehicle and Andy's wife Tiffany wants to do another boat and maybe an animal or two. This is perfect. She already has the boat and squid ... LOL.

OOPs! I meant to say there are good instructions on the original PDF. Thanks for the link Squirmydad, I knew you'd know where it came from!

Nicely done. I've done an enlarged mod of this ship as well. I made up a banks of oars for either side as well. I'll see about posting them. Cheers,

Hey Afet, Nice to hear from you. I'd like to see the oars.
Vermin King: before you use the model, best double check that the bow profiles of both sides line up. I had a small issue that I think I corrected in the pdf, but I have no need for a second ship so I have not tried a re-build.

Hi, all. Here are the oars that I made up. They are glued to the side of the ship near the water line, and assume oarsmen below deck. It´s best to glue them onto a second layer of scrap card-stock, to make them more solid. Cheers, (added to Greek Galley download) www.onemonk.com/guest-dl.html

I know what you mean Revgunn, Shadowolf's original was on my drive for years before I modded it.
thanks for the oars, Afet.

Nice kitbash Afet (as usual) - I've got the Maiden for the mast but would be very interested in your model (PDFs and GSDs if you have them...)

your straight forward "splice" on the side looks better than the complicated thing I did to try and hide the seam. Nice work.

Tiffany had some shopping to do, and time was short Saturday, so about all we got done were some of Squirmydad's Recon and Command cars and some figures.

Okay, here's parts of my redux, minus the mast, which is modified from the WWG Maiden. I'm not posting that, as I know Denny is sticky about kitbashes. To help line up the front and back pieces of the sides, I left illustration photo of Shadowolf's original. Use it to set up the correct overlap. I glued a piece of foam core to the underside of the deck, both to create a solid play surface and to give a stable base for attaching the mast. To attach the mast, I cut a hole in the deck, inserted the mast so it protruded through the bottom an inch or so, then I cut the protruding mast into tabs, which I folded up and glued it to the underside of the deck. I also made up a 2D lower deck so that the encounter could include the oarsmen below deck. Enjoy www.onemonk.com/guest-dl.html

Does this mean you just printed the same "side" page twice and made both ends of the hull the same?

Do you have cutfiles? If not, I'll volunteer to create them (or to work with others to create them...)

Afet - looks like a file or two are missing, the mid- and tail hull and deck sections are missing?
Did you just scale-up the original a certain amount?

trying to figure out how to join them properly.. :-) I left the illustration image on the page so that you could use it to line up the two pieces. I cut the back half of the side hull piece off at the edge of the image, laid the back half of the side over the front half, lined up the illustration, and drew a pencil line on the front half where the overlap should end. Then I cut out the front half, leaving a white tab onto which I glued the back half. Hope that makes sense Also, I forgot that I had made up a 2D lower deck, so that you can build an encounter that includes the oarsmen below decks. I added that to the files I posted previously.

It turns out that GrendelsMother64's mast from his Viking ship is a perfect fit for this larger model! I've updated the archive above with the art and cutfiles for the mast (and modded deck for the larger hole.) I think that means at least 4 of us have had a hand in this model. :-)
