We've been experimenting with paper minis and you can see some of the results at our blog: hereticwerks.blogspot.com. We'll be revising, tweaking and refining each design as we print them out and test them out, before compiling them into sets of PDFs. Our first set of bases are in the works, and we'd appreciate any pointers or advice those more skilled and experienced might be inclined to share with us--we have a lot to learn and are just getting started making these little critters...but we're having fun doing it.

A strong start. I like your designs.
I think a couple would benefit from some color, shadows and highlights.
The Reaper thing could be a bit dark. Not sure.
I like what you've got so far. Thanks for de-lurking and joining us!

Wow! No joke!
Great start... and great site!
I'm a LL fan from the start and love to see well put together site devoted to this game!
I'm really looking forward to seeing your PDF's and using them.
If I can help in any way just drop me a PM.

Thanks for the kind words. We've been messing around with the sizing/scaling for some of the monsters, especially the Yelg-Froth and Cerebroblob that are going up over the holidays. We built those minis at double the usual size to see how well it worked.
The non-colored minis will need to get colorized--we had thought to offer B&W versions that people could recolor. Maybe we can just include B&W versions with the sets, if that is something that people would find useful.
About the Reaper--yeah, it still needs a little something...maybe a little color will make it work better.
Working on some templates and terrain-bits now...

You have some nice looking figs there. If you are just starting on bases I strongly recomend the Reivaj method discussed here cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=reivaj&action=display&thread=2791 and note you can fold and glue the figures as usual and then put a vertical cut in the tab in the middle of each foot. If you then fold the middle of the tab forward and the ends of the tab backward they will slot right into the base. Also you can basically use the onemonk bases and fold the parts that usually stick up to hold the tab underneath instead of adding the extra shims like Reivaj does. Offbeat orc does her promo shot bases this way. They look great.

The thing I noticed about that particular pig, is maybe the arms should be moved back a little. The shoulders should be centered on the body. You seem to have them lined up under the chin.
Don't worry, this is just a suggestion. Most people aren't open to my suggestions.

Like the art. More of a 3E man myself, but what you're doing is cool. Did notice one thing though I really like this Reaper Art, but the way it's layed out it will never match up front to back if folded on the red line.

Hi Adam! You're right--the Reaper is off-kilter a bit. I'll fix that and re-load it to the blog. Everything that we post to the blog is basically a test-run, we'll revise, and clean things up before we compile them into a PDF. thanks again for pointing that out. What do you think about the over-sized ones like the Cerebroblob?

OK, this isn't really a new but ... without direct updates from "Hereticwerks" ... There are some very nice paper minis on his blog ( hereticwerks.blogspot.it/ ), and, "in "paper minis" section ( hereticwerks.blogspot.it/search/label/Paper%20Miniatures ). I like very much "Xal-Daemon" and the last mini, a sci-fi "Beam-Sword fighter" ( from a new sci-fi project ) and I'd love to see them colored. I do not know if I can post pictures here, so you should follow the links, sorry.

Hi Rhannon, Sorry about not updating here more regularly. Thanks for picking-up the slack and giving us a hand. We appreciate your help, and we're glad to hear that you liked the Xal Daemon and the Beam-Sword Fighter. Here's a sample of the Xal Daemon: We have been working on a lot of different stuff, but finally have gotten a chance to finish a few more paper minis. We're always happy to receive constructive feedback, or to hear from fans, etc. In regard to the colorization of the Beam-Sword Fighter, yes, we do plan on doing a set of three or four color versions of each specific type of SciFi Trooper. Purple is already locked-in as an option. What color(s) would you like to see? From now on we'll make a point of updating here every couple of weeks, or sooner whenever we have new paper minis to display. Just so you know--there is a new paper mini going up on our blog Friday and another goes up this coming Monday. We'd like to hear what you think, especially any advice for how we can make them better and more useful. J&J/ Hereticwerks

We've taken a look at this and we really like it. We are building a few of these style of bases and will have a one-sheet .pdf of the things posted/available via our blog in a little while...once we wrap-up a few other loose-ends. Thanks again for pointing this out. It seems like a great solution and we're looking forward to trying it out! J&J/ Hereticwerks

Don't worry, this is just a suggestion. Most people aren't open to my suggestions. Hi Kiladecus, you make a valid point--we didn't mean to ignore you, things just got crazy-busy and we've been off the forum for way too long. We placed the arms the way we did to exaggerate things a bit, to make the Iron Pig have that odd sort of 'not quite right' look to it, since it is effectively a sculpture with a violent streak and a bad attitude. If there is interest, we might do an alternate version or two, both re-tooling the old watercolor illustration, and doing a fresh interpretation from scratch. What do you think of a six-armed Iron Pig? J&J/ Hereticwerks

Okay...we're not entirely sure if we should continue to post to this particular thread, or if there is a more appropriate way to handle things like a regular update of what we're doing, what's up at the blog or coming attractions, etc. so we'll keep posting to this thread until we're pointed in the right direction, if there is a better way to handle this sort of thing. Here is a sample of a new set of minis we're doing: This set is an experiment. All the different bits and parts were drawn out by hand as discrete pieces, scanned-in, and then assembled in Photoshop. Again, this hasn't been colorized yet, but we were curious what you folks thought of this one. We really appreciate the feedback.

looks creepy. I think that is what you were going for. Yep. These things area strange mix of the synthetic and the biological, their DNA is built upon a different scaffolding, so they do have DNA, but they are not quite using the same chemistry, and they are definitely artificial beings, cyborgs really. We'll have some zombies ready in a few days. Not sure if that'll be more or less creepy... ;D
