WOW! Let me know when I can buy these guys! That being said, I'd love an option to have black outlines around the figures. Yes...a black-outline option would be a BIG selling point. When I get minis without the black outline, I have to go in to an image editor (GIMP, usually) and add it, which is a big hurdle for most customers. Also, I should point out something regarding your map (which looks great, btw). In English, "barf" means the same thing as "vomit." If "Barf-Djat" means something important in your native language, or in a made-up language in your game world, you may not want to change it, but I thought you should know that every English-speaker (at least in North America) playing this game is going to think "throw-up" every time he sees "Barf-Djat" on the map.

Hi! Actually, there ARE outlines on the figures to cut them off. It's essentual because face and backsides of the figures don't completely fit each other.
Barf-Djat in the game-world language means "Great Wastelands", nothing more. It doesn't mean anything in Russian. So, what if we would change into "Baarth-Djat"? Does that look neutrally?

jeffgeorge, thank you for your comments. Language in Continent is sort of cryptophasia, all words on map are neologisms in the spirit of local dialects. I tryed to catch all words, that have obscene meaning. But not all these words I can know. Thank you for your advice, I will change name of region little bit for breaking negative association. In local languages Barf-Djat means "Dead Lands", large tundra territory with very low population (only dangerous stranders live here)
okumarts, jeffgeorge, if it realy so important I will add dark outline. To be honest, I can not imagine "steel" miniatures with black outline. Maybe because I'm used to white outline for more than 10 years and it became an unspoken rule for me. My be it just a my habit (I can not get rid of the feeling that black outline "eats" silhouette of a miniature). But in release will version with dark gray outlines.

Having trimmed out literally thousands of paper minis at this point, with black borders, white borders, and every other kind of border anyone has thought to put on them, my experience is this: White borders draw attention to themselves on the table, separating the mini from whatever terrain or background it is seen against. Black borders disappear against the terrain or background, so you forget they are even there. This may seem counter-intuitive, since a wide black border is very obvious before the figure is trimmed out, while it is seen on the solid white background of the cardstock, but once it gets to the table, the situation reverses--the white border calls attention to itself, while the black background is all but invisible. Here are two similar figures from printableheroes that I finished out, one with a black border, and one with a white border. These are from Marshall's early releases, before he started adding the black border, so I added the border to the one on the left, using GIMP, before I printed it out. I've placed them on a green felt background, which I think is a pretty common color for a gaming table surface. See how the black border is almost unnoticeable, while the white border puts a bright edge around the figure? And I think the effect is stronger at normal viewing distance than it is in this close-up photo--to simulate that, look at this picture at a small size, or from far away. And now that I see these two minis next to each other, I see that the white border just reminds us that the one on the right is paper, while the black border just makes the figure itself stand out more brightly. What I'd recommend is a border of about 1.5mm around the front side, and 2.5 or 3mm around the back of the miniature. This difference allows the customer to trim around the front side leaving a 1mm border, with plenty of margin on the back side to allow for imperfections in alignment, whether from differences in the front and back silhouettes, or from slight errors in folding. I hope this helps make clear what okumarts and I are talking about. I look forward to your minis, no matter what you decide!

"Baarth-Djat" means nothing in English, so it should be safe (at least for English-speaking gamers!). It also looks and sounds more exotic, which helps emphasize the imaginary world you're creating.

jeffgeorge, thank you for your your great detailed response. I will try to find the best option. In extreme cases, I'll add in set with two options at the same time. Also thank you for the tip with different outline sizes in front and behind the miniature. I did not know about it. I will gradually rework everything

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone on this thread (or the forums) have the files to this incredible project? I want to play this game with these miniatures! For good measure, I followed all of his links, even registered to the VK site, but I have had no luck.
I reached out to Tomoko directly but he hasn't logged on in almost a year. I just hope this amazing stuff isn't lost.

uptrainfan89, I hope that we will release some albums on the Wargame Vault this year. I'm afraid to give some specific forecasts for the dates, because I rarely fit into the terms. Materials must be formalized and designed, we need to make a few illustrations. I do not know how long this time will take :-(

Nice, well I'll definitely keep an eye out for them! Have to say they look really nicely done and will make a nice addition to my sci-fi/near future games when released! Also just cause I'm a little new jumping into this thread is everything you've made so far to be released this year or is there sets out already, sorry for my confusion?

uptrainfan89 no problem! The main problem of my project is that he's been working too long. Therefore, I want to finish the infantry in the first place. This is the most difficult and time consuming part of the project. It's hard to believe, but it's much easier and faster to create model a vehicle than infantry. To complete the remaining miniatures of the infantry, I need a few months (last 72 figures) Shock infantry of Otlok is at the finalization stage. I need to finish the reverse side. I will postpone this work at the beginning of May. Here is a graphical table of the work process. List dont contain terrain, fx, corpses and other environment elmnts

Vermin King, thank you! To be honest, Im a hostage of steel warriors. I cant leave it, but it too far to finish in general. It strongly suppres me. Current iteration of miniatures is the sixth. I have poduce last itteration since 2015. Early five iterations - since 2007 (archives 2007, 2008-2009, 2010 microscale, 2011 and 2013) I hope current iteration is final. I think, I can't complete absolutly all points. SW will uncompleted, I sure. After SW I will never-never to create miniatures, I promise Or only little sets, not huge projects

"Steel Warriors" is not just a few low sci-fi paper minis' sets series. "Steel Warriors" is a whole world. With Lore, history, rules ( and buildings, vehicles, counters ... ) ...
A truly great project that one/two persons have been carrying out for years. Wonderful! :-)
