Hello fellow papercrafters,
I'd like to present you my Standee projects I have started so far, some are just experiments and some are pretty much finished (of course, new stuff could always be added )

Instead or re-writing everything, please allow me to link the threads in the Lead Adventure Miniatures forum that are of possible interest.
Short version:
Standees allow me to realize projects I wouldn't have cash or motivation for otherwise and being cardboard I can print as many as I need for next to no cost, they are fully customizable and can just be thrown in a box after a game while also looking decent (I call it "boardgame aesthetics"). For me, it's just an alternative to traditional miniatures, each medium having it's own advantages and disadvantages and every hobbyist will have his or her own opinion =)
Projects so far:
1. Strange Aeons / Lovecraftian Horror
2. All Things Zombie
3. BattleTech
4. Hired Guns
5. D&D Dark Sun
Shocking Tales of Madness and... Cardboard?!?
Long version and articles on the Lead Adventure Game Forums:

A short explaination of my Standee evolution:
I started with sprites from the 1997 PC game "Blood", mounted to 1mm cardboard and with an integral base, also of 1mmm cardboard. I started it one year ago and did it for the Lovecraftian game "Strange Aeons".
The next step was a whole load of Zombie and associated miniatures for All Things Zombie; those were made from miniature photos and had a glowing outline added to better see dark parts against the dark grey background.
Then came some BattleMechs which were taken directly from scanned-in official BattleTech paper standees, mounted on 1.5mm finn cardboard, which is lighter and better to cut. At this time I realized I had to find a way to add interchangeable information to the miniature's base somehow, but didn't figure it out then.
Next was just a for-fun-project, ripping sprites from the 1993 Amiga game "Hired Guns" and building a complete range of standees for all characters and monsters from this game, this time with a base that had to "realistic terrain" texture but a shaded style taken directly from the game, with the character's name added. I also switched back to a black background.
Then came a short phase of fascination with the old AD&D setting "Dark Sun", and I made standees from the official and unofficial art availalbe on the net. I obviously had no backside images so I just put a silhouette there. With this project I invented a new way to do the bases; realizing the 1.5mm cardboard was thick enough to slot into each other, I added a little tab at the standee's bottom and made seperate bases with a small slot. This way, I can change bases whenenver I please.
the newest project is actually completing the first one I started; I finally bought the Strange Aeons rulebook and spent nearly one week working on mondernized standees and paper terrain.

I hope you enjoy my articles and maybe someone feels inspired to try something similar
Cheers
