WOW! I would hate to see the printer you used to print that out! Looks VERY cool... and fun.

This is epic, and there better be video of the launch!

Kinda reminds me of Paraplegic Racehorse's boat projects. Are you allowed to paint/seal this? I doubt it. I echo the request for a launch video.
What a fun project. Here's wishing you the best on the weather holding.

Wow! That's cool and I can't wait to see how it turns out! Good luck on the weather and the race. I wish it was 70 around here. We've had over 100 for awhile now with it finally deciding to rain some this last week. Nice and humid.

I'm allowed to use acrylic paint, elmers glue, and duct tape-but tape can't extend more than 3" out from a seam line. No oil based paints. I'm hoping my wife can video the race, or the sinking.

Are you going to rig a sail? How far do you have to go?

I wanted to put up a sail but the race rules say it has to be hand-powered. The course looks to be about a mile, kinda small, seems to be more of a sprint. This'll be my first year doing so I'm a bit fuzzy on a few things.

I hope SWIMMING isn't one of the things you are fuzzy on...

No kidding. Carboard boat regatta in the rain. Reminds me of some of my exploits when I wore a younger man's clothes...

Rained, stopped, started again, stopped, started again raining harder, stopped, rained, sixty degrees so not bad, the water felt nice to walk around in, I'm glad we didn't sink though. ;D I made hat for my crew member and then covered it with a groovy duct tape. That's my couch in the back after I had to move inside to finish the project. Here we are receiving our Best Teamwork award (a duct tape submarine) and the sampan after it came out of the lake; No damage or leakage whatsoever. On the water, I need to work with my crew more on proper paddling techniques.

And some pics of the other competitors are available over at the Mayhem in Paper Facebook album. www.facebook.com/MayhemInPaperI learned that cardboard is much more buoyant than I thought, has a pretty hard 'drag' in the water, and is stronger than I thought. So next year I'll be building a thinner walled craft with lighter bulkheads and keel workings, needs to be slightly wider, and I think I'd like a bench as they looked very comfortable. Cheers! ;D
