Hey everyone,
I am getting ready to work on the second installment of WARMANCERS.
I placed this poll here, and you can choose TWO of the options above. If you could, on the "Other" or "Other Races" let me know as specifically as you can about what you would be hoping to see in the set.
The first set, BATLLE WIZARDS, was the "in yer face" kind of wizards. The ones that would blast you as they closed, and beat the crap out of you in hand to hand combat.
This set is for the second-line wizards. These fellas will hide behind something or someone, and blast away. They are going to be the healers, illusionists, and snipers.
These folks will have high DEX ratings and use stealth and shadow more than fighting.
I can't wait to get your input on these. I will be converting some of my concept sketches to be included in this set. Also, a couple figures that didn't make it into the last set will be included here.
There will be more schools of magic added, as well.

Glad to see I am getting some feedback on this! WHAT races are you looking for, SPECIFICALLY? I know of a Beastman, and an Illithid I am planning on including... What else would you like to see? What about some Undead mages (like a re-vamped Lich King) or something. Let me know, please.

Careful Kil, the Illithid were not part of the Open Game Liscence so are property of Wizards of the Coast. Don't know what happens if you draw a squid headed dude and make up a new race. Just so you know.

Thanks for the head's up (or should I say, "Squid-Head's up"). I did get a few figures drawn up last night. Here is the Werewolf Mage. Attachments:

You and me, BOTH! I have about 6 figures done (at least the line art). I have a few more to go (shooting for about 11-13), and of course the BIG dragony-thing I have yet to draw. I will save that. Any ideas of what kind of large dragony-thing you would like to see? Maybe a mounted mage, or possibly something like the pet drake that can carry ANY figure? Let me know. I want to get the core figures done first before I do the BIG baddy. Since I came up with the pet drake concept, I am going to hinge off of that and have another figure that can be a 2D OR 2.5D figure. It is so simple, I think I may include one in EVERY set from here on out.

@ Dragnoz: I joked with my wife about the Cryomancer having it because she is cold. No THO and no bare mid-drifts. @ UpTrainFan89: I am planning something else in the way of the dragon... There are plenty of dracoliches out there... Maybe in a different set.

The left foot on the were-wolf looks a little strange. I think there is too much space between the claws. And maybe the space between them should be convex instead of concave? Is it too late to change that? If not, here is a reference: www.dragoart.com/tuts/2112/1/1/how-to-draw-wolf-paws.htm

THANKS CBL!! I wasn't happy with it and couldn't tell why. It looked too much like the "Creature From the Black Lagoon-"ish. Now I know why! I can fix this now (it is NEVER too late until it is scanned). Good thing my scanner was down and this was just a photo. Perhaps I should post a couple others and you can Parduz them for me. I have one posted on Facebook, and Reivaj was the ONLY one that clicked "LIKE" on it. Perhaps you can tell me what is wrong with it.

I love Parduzing! I try to stay away from Facebook. I'm signed up, but I find if I ever check my page I'm distracted for a long time with very little to show for it. On the super large version of the Cryo. her right bicep looks like it needs to be rounder since it is flexed, but at closer to actual size I don't see a problem. Good luck with that right hand.

I do a lot of cutting am pasting... litterally! I will rmove the hand by cutting out the mage orb, and redraw the hand on a separate piece of paper, and place it where it needs to be, and re-scan it (since I got my scanner working again). My goblin needs the whole head moved forward a bit... then I will be happy with it.

I am a HUGE fam of Reivaj's work. His Thri-Kreen are among my favorite sets. I wanted to do a bug thing, but I didn't want to do something too similar to his. I came up with my MANTISOR WARMANCER... kindof a WARMAN-TISOR... (He casts his Mage Orb from between his antennae. He would make an EXCELLENT Electromancer!). Attachments:

These legs doesn't feel right for the mantisor... Either give him more legs or beef the legs up. I wold go with more legs, sice it looks that if he extends his arm he wold lost balance and fall, as it is now.

I will make the arms a little smaller, and add a second pair of legs. Good call, Hackbarth.
Thank you!

Well, i'd draw the torso with a 3/4 view just like the "horse" body. Or at least enhance the fact that she's doing a "torsion". Then i'd draw his right shoulderpad with an "inverted" perspective: now it seems that she's pushing both the shoulders forward. Also, i'd try to make the left arm less "egyptian-like" by adding some perspective to the hand and the bracer (just giving it more perspective could be enough, perhaps). And the tail/body attachment zone is not so wide in a horse.... am i wrong? Anyway, i'll do it less wide. About what's exposed, she have his whole bottom naked as well

Agree with Parduz in general -- but still in such cases (perspective and twist) firstly I'd consider B-side view -- as it might occurs that it wouldn't look as good/attractive as A-side. (in other words - I'm always trying to keep in mind B-side while sketching/designing/coloring A-side)
OK, for typical human-like minis you can "hide/cover" most troubling B-side parts using various accessories like cloaks, long hairs, shields etc... but in this particular case it might be really tough!

I was trying to do something a little different than just the traditional profile figures that people generally do with mounts and centaurs.
I chose the twisted torso to show that she is humanoid, and whatnot.
As far as the back view, I am sure you are right, but I have a few ideas.
And yes, Parduz, she is basically naked. Perhaps I have travelled too far from my "norm" and should nix this figure from the set...
EDIT: I forgot to mention that Parduz was right about the arms. That left one doesn't feel right... almost like it is backwards. Perhaps if I drew it more forward, then that would help. O like her right arm... It gives her a more demure feel... Like what Okumarts does with his figures with their toes facing inward.

Hey, Kil! I was joking about it being "naked".... it's half animal, why should she being all dressed? Keep that miniature and retouch it if you feel it needs. You know that i go really nitpicking. Your style is unique and "not realistic", so it allows a good amount of freedom. Keep making it until you're satisfied by it
