Ok we have already talked about this subject but, maybe. someone may have missed it, or some new user ... Game Geek ( by Avalon Game Company ) is, imho, a great fanzine about the hobby and now all numbers are free ( before the old numbers were still paid ). This will not be yet another post on AGC ( AGC has great gaming systems and solid gameplay but ... at the end I continue to buy his products but probably this forum have become accustomed me to a greater dialogue with producers and this is my limit ) but about the free paper minis sets inside GG. We all love darkmook's hard sci-fi figures ( future lawmen ) and here there are all the darkmook's terran marines figures. Even those not yet sold ( I can't understand why ). For free. A full seven men marine squad ) sergenant, officer, comm, psyker ) in heavy armor ( with many weapon options ) in n° 33 An eleven men squad ( officer, sergeant, medic ... ) on n° 30 One heavy weapon platform ( with options ) and 3 crewmen on n° 29 ... so, if someone has lost something ... An whole darkmook's army of red marines, free. Thanks to AGC

i dont know if it is just my side but, are the images supposed to be cutoff? Yes. By me ( I don't wish to create problems to hemdog560, Rob from Avalon Games ). Into the free pdf file figures are complete with front and back ( they are excellent quality paper minis ). Link: www.rpgnow.com/index.php?cPath=1658_5079

Excellent! Thank you for the find. If I'd known Darkmook's work was in those issues I'd have purchased them, being free now is a bonus.

Are there other Game Geek issue with paper minis?? Sure. Yes. In recent issues there are other paper minis. In n° 33/34 there are 8 ( mirrored, 16 ) very good, imho, wood elves. There is a full orcs' set, too ... And others ... Not all on top quality, quality varies. but from n° 25 onwards there is always something ( some figure has the shades' problem, but imho it depends on set to set and from artist to artist ). There are some full commercial sets, the generosity of AGC is indisputable in any case. My last favorite numbers are n° 29, with some figures of the 20's ( eleven figures ) and the red terran marine heavy weapon platform ( by darkmook ) N° 30 with a full red terran marine squad ( thirteen figures ) and a superheroes' set. N° 32 with orcs. N° 33 with heavy armor marines and wood elves and n° 34 ( the last ) with other wood elves.

Thanks, I saw the wood elves in #33, good to know there are more as I liked that artists style.

Thanks Rhannon. Thad "pale color" flaw is really a shame, but sure that 'zines are full of goodies. Now: anyone know how to put them all in the cart at RPGNOW to do a bulk download, instead of downloading then one-by-one with that "get-it-free" button (which i hate a lot when i need to get more things)?

Not all paper minis sets have this problem ( flaw ), Parduz ( terran marines, elves, orcs and others are right ) For the download ... put them in cart ( I downloaded all of them so. ten at a time ).

It's a shame for the one that have it For the download ... put them in cart ( I downloaded all of them so. ten at a time ). This is exactly what i'm not able to do. The "get it free" button opens immediatly the download window and then the file-save dialog window. I'm unable to put them in the cart instead.

Ok. 1- We are on main rpgnow Game Geek page ( www.rpgnow.com/index.php?cPath=1658_5079 ). here: 2- You choose your number and "get it free" 3- this opens another page/windows on your main page (the previous one) ( we see that there is "cart 1" ) 4 - Now you, on principal page ( not the window ) go back on other GG number. Now you have the option "add to cart" 5- add to cart and it open ( directly from the page where you are ) the cart page. 6- ... And so on ( you can go back on other numbers ). Whe you finished, you confirm order with the "Checkout" button at the bottom Ciao. ;D

Are there any more marines or other sci-fi figures in any of the Game Geeks? I don't have time to go through them all right now but I am loving the marines you've shown so far. I've collected those three sheets into one PDF for ease of printing and I'm probably going to end up organizing them into squads with more standard troopers (made through mirroring).
Once the project's done I can post it if I get the okay from everyone involved and if other people want them. I don't want to steal anybody's thunder or take credit for someone else's hard work, but my ways to contribute to this group are limited with my lack of artistic ability.

The green ( commercial ) versions are in: 1- Nova Blast Component Book- A full green squad identical with that free red in GG 30. 2- A full eleven men green squad ( the same above ) in Nova Blast Marine Source Book. Plus a green heavy weapon platform with three-man crew ( like the free reds in GG 29 ) 3 - five very beautiful figures in green ( captain, major, lieutenant, psiker and marine with comm pack ) in Nova Blast Marine Expansion 1 They are not in "free" red.4 - But ... the full seven men marine squad in heavy armor ( GG 33 ) there is not in "commercial" green ( a real shame for me ) Imho Nova Blast is a very good game ( Leaving aside the aliens' paper figures, and some other small things ). There is a full version, free of charge. It is really worth a try imho. PS: they ( the reds ) are free but still copyrighted. If you modify them (even if only in page layout) for your strict personal use imho there is no problem. But, before share them, I would ask permission to AGC. Ciao

The figures are awesome, but the quality of the images is a little disappointing. Not that I'm complaining for free stuff, after all if the magazine was made at full quality their sizes would be even greater.
What I want to know is if the Nova Blast miniatures are in better quality, with less jpeg artifacts. Maybe I can send them some money for these same free minis if they are in a more professional look.

Now all 27 Darkmook's Nova Blast "red marines" are available for sale on RPGNow for $ 2.99 ( link ). The file size is 9.06 MB so I have to assume that they are of good quality.

Finally got round to putting together the elves that were in issue 33 and 35(?)... Bit of a nightmare really - for a start there was no foldline in the middle of the bases. And my measurements must have ended up *way* out if the backs are anything to go by!! Thinking they would be to scale with the Adventurers set I printed up the other month I initially printed them at 115% - which worked fine for the ones in issue 33.... But the ones two issues later ended up being way too big when printed the same, so I re-printed them at 100%. The guy with the two swords is especially huge - here he is up against one from the previous set.... (Remember, the one on the left was printed at 100%, the one on the right at 115%!!) Four figures in each set, each of them is duplicated in issue 33 and duplicated but mirrored in issue 35. Having said all that I do love the figures - very characterful. And they don't have that "bleached out" look that many of Avalon's have.

They are great looking mini's. Shame they can't keep the scale right. Thanks for the heads-up.

If I had the GIMP-fu I would put them all on one sheet and re-size them on that. Think I may need to find myself a course!

If you'd like to be walked through the process in real-time, you can always look me up on AIM or Steam chat (I'm mproteau). It's pretty simple to lay out some guides or lines on a separate layer to let you know where 28mm is, making it easier to scale each figure if necessary.
