The Elven Mill is an amazing customizable model. You can set the number of windows, and the style of the building - and each style has different embellishments and doors. Rather than try to create all the combinations in cutfiles, I'm attempting a new way for a cutfile to be customized at the last minute. For those of you with Studio software and the model, please check out the sample page I just completed and give me feedback on the customization technique I'm using... Before tackling the other 17 pages of building cutfiles, I'd like to lock this technique down and standardize it across all the files. Attachments:

Wow. Just... wow. That is some serious (a) dedication, (b) creativity, (c) generosity. Really a clever solution! I won't have time to work on this for a couple days, but it sure looks like this is nothing short of brilliant. I'm running out of complimentary terms to throw around, so I'll leave it at "thank you for all your robocutter work!"

I have to agree I just checked it out and that is a really good approach to multi-layer/different stuff for a cutfile.
must be a fair bit of work?

Two more as I explore this method of customized cutfiles. They get more complicated with having to track score lines... First an easy one: Page 11 which contains the "whole" roof tiles, though I discovered that they aren't exact mirrors of each other... Attachments:

I'm focusing on the Roof first, because it is the hardest and the cutter will provide the most help soonest. Here's Page 2, which has custom ground-level doors per theme, and the decorations. There are 8 buttons on this one! Don't forget to set the complete pair of Cut/Score buttons appropriately... WARNING: DON'T USE THIS VERSION OF THIS CUTFILE FOR THE WOOD TEXTURE. Attachments:

NOTE - these are all untested drafts! Use them at your own risk. I'll post a full kit when I've got them all done, cut, and assembled. This will probably be at least another week. Attachments:

Waring: Page two "Wood" textured windows don't align properly using this unified-cutfile variation.
It looks like some of the objects were hand-arranged ... Ugh.
Look very very closely if you want to use these before I finish. At this point I'm not 100% sure I'll do all versions of all pages if the objects don't line up on a lot of other pages...

Page three (with window) is ready. I need to go back and fix page two for the Wood texture (if you aren't making that texture, that file should be fine. This is the most complex one to date. I'm sorry these are taking so long, but all the layers make them very complex. I have 145 source files (various combinations of textures and windows....) It's a bit overwhelming (and I have a day job...) Anyway, if anyone tries one of these, let me know how it goes. I'm off to do the no-window version of page 3. Attachments:

Page three without the window was easy enough as I had the parts laying around from other pages. :-) Mostly just rigging up the buttons... Attachments:

Page 14. I just checked with Lord Zse Zse and the Medieval version of this page is correct without the side-window hole. I now have enough pages done to attempt the roof. Any opinions which? I'm thinking Wood Elf to see how the Dragon ornamentation turns out, and the cool window frames... But the Dark one looks cool too... Attachments:

UPDATED Page 2. Now I have a better handle on the Wood Elf textures, here's the updated Page 2 cutfile. I already see another problem which I will fix in all of the "with window" files before cutting and assembling the roof. Attachments:

Here's the completed roof. My tip: Dry fit everything and under-color all the joints to hide the white that shows through the various inner-outer gaps. Here are the exact cufiles (with the Wood Elf texture already selected) I used. I did the usual export, merge and carefully align drill. And yes - it will save you hours. :-) dl.dropbox.com/u/3838990/Elven%20Mill%20Lord%20Zsezse%20Works%20Roof.zip

Very impressive images. I'm very much looking forward to building several of these as watchtowers but will hold off until everything is finalized. Your work and dedication to the cut files are amazing. Seriously, you should get a raise!

I'm Baaack (will post some ornaments and stuff I made elsewhere, but I'm going to try to do a page a day of this model and have it ready by Christmas.) - That's IF I don't get too distracted with the newly released Snowball Wars!
