Inspired by the recent vehicles Kiladecus has been making, I took some time today to try to build a transport ship with the same technique. The test version takes three sheets of paper in components, as shown in the attached picture.

Here is the picture of the test build, along with some figures and models for size comparison.

Here is a view from the underside. In the end, I am not very happy with its shape. I might turn it into a 15mm scale dropship, with some modifications...

I like where you're going with this... especially with the 15mm idea. Like you said though, I'm not sure about the shape of the "hull"... it's just a little too boxy... maybe streamline it a bit?

I'd want to see textures before I wrote this off. I think the shape says 'utilitarian' which is what a transport ship is.
I like it. It looks like a transport ship.

I like it! Good textures could make a nice and simple model.
Dunno what it is that doesn't appeal you: perhaps you could try to use less "orthogonal" lines.
As example, looking at it from the top, the hull+tail shape could be a trapezoid instead of a rectangle, with a smaller nose. It is a bit more tricky to draw it but could sort out a more "aerodinamic" shape.
This could be applied also (or instead) to the front hull section.
Anyway, i like it.

I'd like to see this with the floor extended back further and the rear hatch more vertical. A transport needs more floor space. But the more I see it, the more I like it. As is, it could make a great little fighter.

WOW! It is hard to believe that I could inspire someone (and I bet that everyone reading this just said, "You took the words out of my mouth"). This looks FANTASTIC! I love the way you did the tail. I did my Claudius Dropship a year ago (or so) and it follows some of the same guidelines, but it was freakin' huge and boxy. I think it is dead-on! I could honestly say it not only looks great, but blows my design away, hands down!

Hey Kiladecus, here is the pdf with the basic transport ship outlines. I will start working on the alternate version today. Attachments:

Got it! Thanks! ;D
I will play with this as soon as I get a moment. I am being dragged down to the 7th layer of hell on this current project that is more than I bargained for...

This little guy has been one of my most popular builds. I need to build three more. The guy that talked me out of this one sent me a text. He opened up the bottom panel and hot glued some coins in the nose. It glides really well. I revamped the graphics on it, but he also would like to see a different version.
Very well done, Gilius

Well, as luck would have it, with yellow being the main visual color, the forgetting to clean the print heads caught up with me. I was making another UPS to go with the UPS van and hovervan for myself. Tony the firefighter drives the Emergency Response Vehicle for Station 5 most of the time. He's going to take a few photos of his vehicle and I'm going to do an Emergency Response Transport. I'm going to throw some extra panels on the pattern to cut out and add nose weight to the inside.
If gilius doesn't mind, does anyone have anything they would like to see with this little guy? I was thinking S.W.A.T vehicle myself, but debating on gray or blue
