Wow, just wow... I got the geometry of the Urutu from you some time back, but after a few tries I saw that I was not ready for texturing something like this. Now seeing the white build, I know it'll be awesome! Thanks, wasn't sure if you'd done any work on it. As a native Brasilian, what are the colors commonly seen on the Urutu? Is there a different color scheme for security forces? Thanks.

Found part of the answer to my own question through Google-the Iraqi army purchased these APC's so a desert color is in order.

Many of the Iraqi hardware was bought from Brazil, APCs, light tanks, missile launchers.
Our own hardware tend to be dark green, very dark green. Also I believe that the Brasilam troops in service of the U.N. (in Haiti and other humanitarian relief missions) should have some in U.N. white.
About the light tanks, Brazilian APCs and Light Tanks are modular, the Cascavel Light tank is an Urutu with a tank tower.

Looks great! The color is a little more green. But the "darkness/lightness" seems about right. The correct insignia for the Brazilian Army is this one:

Turret in progress. Need to make an MG now.

Brazilian Army Insignia ready to be stenciled on the side of the Urutu/Cascavel. P.S.: The preview doesn't show the image, because the stencil is white on tranparent background. P.P.S.: Seeing the color on my work monitor, it seems spot-on. My tablet may put tricks on me, since he alters display luminosity to conserve battery power. About other colors, I think the navy has some in light gray, and the air force doesn't bother with armored APCs. (P.P.P.S.: Researched better. Navy uses the 8-wheeled MOWAG Piranha III) Attachments:

Thanks for that one too. Little more work on turret parts and reshaped the barrel to a hex tube instead of a square tube.

First turret builds; Forgot the splinter shield for the MG and the smoke launchers. Texturing continues. *The above photos were taken after the drop tests. Some dings on the corners, otherwise fine. This was using Hammermill 80lb stock.

Papercraft models can be surprisingly strong for their sizes.
I constructed the hexagonal gatehouse from mageknight, without any structural reinforcement aside of gluing the textures in cereal boxes. My 11kg, 3 year old was using the model as a improvised step to reach toys in the upper shelfs of her bedroom. It barely buckled...

Squirmydad: It looks the part! Nice job.
Hackbarth: I really like Brazil's army insignia. It's one of the coolest-looking examples I've seen so far.

I still don't like how the barrel goes together, too fiddly and prone to twist-warp. I think I'm going to try a long hexagonal taper shape. Got the layout down to four pages, which is perfect for the 15mm scale model version as it'll all be on one page. Tires and axles page is done; I love the look of multi-wheeled vehicles, but I always forget how tedious it is to build all those tires.

Only five and half years late to the battlefield, it's Forum Horde #106 Real World Armies! Since the only entry for this lost Horde is my Urutu I decided to create some variety and there are nine different color variations plus three with Iraq, Brazil, and UN markings. onemonk.com/fh-2013.htmlI still want to finish up the Cascavel/turret version, check back in five years or so...

Would you object to someone doing a turret mod?

Would you object to someone doing a turret mod? Actually I can post the basic work I have presently done if someone wants to bring it on home. www.dropbox.com/s/df7h85xj4uh4pp7/Cascavel_turret.zip?dl=0Hm, looking at it again it looks like I'm missing texture details on the MG and little bits on the turret components. All of the color and fx texture work is done, all the parts are there and should build up fine.

Update -> I changed the download set up so that you can download the individual schemes...individually...instead of one massive 80mb download of everything.

Urutu stress test update; This vehicle model is not rated for earthquakes of magnitude 7 or greater. The laptop is also very unhappy, took a tumble and I'm not sure how well it works, lots of dents...

poor tanks!!!! T.T ... i want to see more boss!!! more tanks!!! Me too! But... My main laptop survived, just the power cord was shredded. The old back up one seems to be toast, and unfortunately it's the one with the 3d modelling programs I use to create vehicles, which is why I kept a machine around with an outdated OS. I guess I need to learn a new 3d program to do my vehicles. Fortunately, I do have a habit of exporting models to do white builds so I do have a pile of "idea vehicle prototypes" that I can texture and finish. Disaster recovery and repairs continue.
