Grand Medieval Band Tour Casting!Talented musicians wanted!- Drummers - Harp players - Violin players? - Flute players - More brass players/ trumpeters perhaps? and - Singing Divas? (medieval "Lady GaGa's" ) Hmm... would we need some other members in our band? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated while not necessarily included into incoming set. Disclaimer Medieval Ladies nor Groupies definitely can't be included!

Well, you could add Horns, Liuti, arps, Lira and Cetra, tambourines (that kind with the metal disks on the rim), Ocarina... it only depends on what world zone you're in.... bongos, congas, bagpipes, tam-tams, cymbals.... Italicized names are the one for which i don't know (and i can't search, right now) a translation... sorry.

Looks like you've got the stringed instruments covered! I'd add a snare drum and pipers and flutists. A panflute wouldn't be out of place either. Pardon the pun? Cetra is a zither, and a Liuti is a lute. Lira and ocarina are the same in english. There's also a Lyre, which resembles a harp.

Didn't Spock play instrument similar to the Lyre? (Just curious).
I think it is a fun set.
I bet Dryw the Harper is looking forward to it! ;D

Houston, Houston... problem... GREENISH problem!Oh no! It seems that being a famous band member could be quite appealing, even for ORCS!

Hmm... actually it's me who got a problem... It was supposed to be smallish set, you know - rather kinda chamber music not a whole orchestra! Parduz - with all the instruments (or even part) you've mentioned one set couldn't be enough I'm afraid. But from other hand some of these are quite interesting so thanks for ideas (and btw no problem with italicsEspecialy piper and pan-flute could be nice, then some cymbalist perhaps... and harp... Well I'll have to search for some resource images/photos - shouldn't be problem with pipe players (vide Scots). But would some nice, sitting girl with long golden hairs vide Greek ceramics or fairy tales be fine for a harp player? oldschooldm - I'm not sure right now but beware as it could turn into quite big set! @kila - Star Trek time travelers:) @steve - Ooo! after watching this video I think that some... monks CHOIR could be nice idea?! You know - almost the same figurines, all hooded ( Robin, Robin, The Hooded Man... vide song by Clannad:))), just with some subtle color changes only, standing on a resting/podium/stairs (? it could be separate accessory/scenery!) Hmm...

[Well, all what i tried to do is to give you ideas I know and appreciate! Thing is that I like these suggestions and once again I'll tend to "drift" testing / adding new figurines and poses etc. And I promised myself to be more focused in this year - but that's OK, there are chances that this set will be well developed and enjoyable! Here, from spring to late autumn, there's a lot of medieval "festival" with ppl in costumes and replicas of weapons, musical instruments and so on... so i saw a lot of that stuffs Well - same here - actually we have a lot of castles in Poland, built from stone (south) and brick (central and north Poland), including biggest ever Gothic brick-built castle (Teutonic Order Malbork / Marienburg) - this is something so huge, so formidable - really breathtaking! Personally I'm taking part in many such festivals - I used to promote my Kartonowa Armia magazine as well as took part in various semi-theatrical shows or knight-games (mounted with full plate armour:) or more often taking part in shooting contests (crossbow)... Some pictures from Malbork summer festival and my stand (you can find me on some pictures:) www.kartonowefigurki.pl/sub-gal10a.htmlor www.kartonowefigurki.pl/sub-gal09a.htmlYou might also want too google "zamek w malborku" phrase - and you will get a lot of thumbnails, which gives some Malbork castle impression.

... I was kinda inspired by recent posts in Madmanmike's "My Paper Miniatures" thread - all about 3D models and software, "Uncanny Valley", hyper realistic effects, using pre-made/purchased poses etc... Thing is that so far in every and each quality CG firstly there is... hand drawn concept, live model etc. otherwise CG might look technically awesome but still very artificial and not convincing... But it's too late so perhaps I'll back to this topic later. Update! Actually Orkish drummer didn't pass... I can almost hear your "ufff" relief Now, let's see what we have here: 1. Youp! Full rhythm section right on stage! - Big kettle-drum (responsible for BOOM, DUMMM) - drummer (TADAM, DAM, DAM) - and two tambourine (timbrel ?) players (TZYK, TZZZINNG) Together they can perform "DAM-DAM-DOOM, DAM-DAM-DOOM... We will, we will fight you!" as they are performing mostly on tournaments;))) /Well, drummer needs some changes/disguise so he will look more mid-medieval/ 2. Fiesta!!! Blame on Parduz! )) It's because he mentioned "Medieval Festivals". So if festive / fiesta - then there should be jugglers, flame-eaters, acrobats etc... entertaining crowd, right? Hmm...perhaps some beggars and thieves as well:) 3. There is also another one trumpeter. I'm not sure if this figurine fit into this set, it's rather for Knight Tournament / Jousting... What do you think? In fact this is one of my very specific and oldest figurines, with some story behind - who knows, maybe one day I'll tell you this "behind the scene" history - assuming that you like this kind of stories about figurines origins and process of designing? 4. Oh and please pretend that you just can't see that lady in left corner - she wasn't supposed to be there!Actually she somehow managed to get through security and sneaks almost to stage... 5. There is still harp playing girl missed, butfrankly speaking I think that thiskind of figurine suits better to "Medieval Castle tenants"or "Royal / Princess Court" or something similar - but not outdoor. Do you agree? Well, dunno where it all leads... Anyway - stay tuned... PS. Nope, I didn't forgot about monks choir... on contrary, I like this idea, though not sure if there will be enough space within this set for singing monks - there might be too many eggs into one basket

I have two questions for you. Have you seen the movie "Monte Python and the Holy Grail"? and will there be separate flying-stands for the jongleurs' torches? We could choreograph juggling routines or use them as missile weapons! ;D
Have fun! Steve

Have you seen the movie "Monte Python and the Holy Grail"? Of course:) But why are you asking? Do you want more "all-green" minstrels instead of musicians? Then movie ones are looking rather as clowns instead of "civil" typical musicians playing on some festive etc. In fact I wanted these figurines to be very colorful and vivid, but can add one page with all figurines presented in monochromatic (greenish or red?) color tonality, hmm...? ...will there be separate flying-stands for the jongleurs' torches? We could choreograph juggling routines or use them as missile weapons! These torches are small pieces, so actually I have kinda problem with jugglers figurines - I don't know HOW to "attach" torches to figurines - or rather how to make outline. So far I'm considering 3 solutions: 1. white outline around torches (and standard black around figurines) 2. link torches with black line = with the same wide /thick as main figurine outline 3. torches as standalone figurines? A group /couple of "flying" torches with white or black outline(both possible so user can choose the one he prefers) kinda mounted on some "air blast" - so these might be treated as a separate figurine? Any suggestions? Attachments:

I like torches as figurine, with thin black outline. Though at least one juggler should be holding one - just throwing or just catching it.

I just wanted to establish a common frame of reference. One year I taught Humane Letters (history, literature, writing) based on the English Middle Ages to 7th graders. On the first day of class, I asked them about "Monte Python & the Holy Grail", and they all started rattling off quotes from the movie! I was able to use it as a contact point through the whole school year! Jim Hartman did a really good set of characters from the movie, but unfortunately (!?!) they were mounted on actual horses! ;D My whole post was a light humored response to the image you posted. I am sure you will do something creative and appropriate with the jugglers torches, which I like a lot! Have fun! Steve

OK - set released! Release thread: cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=permesreleases&thread=4531&page=1#48036Well, it's quite big set, with a lot of figurines +Easy 3D scenery and stage decorations =>>poor Oldschooldm... We were discussing about jugglers and many good ideas springs. But as you will notice there are no jugglers in this musicians set at all. Yes, I know that some of you are waiting for these figurines. But when I started adding more poses (with and without torches, catching and throwing) then testing some options with outlines and then various flying tabs at the end it resulted in additional full page! Still crucial factor was that I felt that just alone jugglers in musicians set looks somehow...strange - I felt also that there could be kinda "waste" of potential. Simply I thought that something like, well NOT circus as we know today, but Medieval / Renaissance group of traveling entertainers (with wagon!) could be nice and worth to expand idea! So good message is that these discussions and figurines definitely are not wasted or abandoned! Jugglers should find their place in this future set together with acrobats, knife-throwers, flame-eaters, clowns, strong-man, hmm...who else? I've got already some preliminary sketches so more news should be available soon!

Dancing bears! Dancing bears!
Some bagpipers and viol players would go well in an expansion set!
Oh, and now that we've got a stage, we need some figures representing the players in various medieval mystery plays!
Have fun! Steve

Dancing bears! Dancing bears! Some bagpipers and viol players would go well in an expansion set! Dancing bears - superb idea - thanks! Violin players - rather Castle/ Court interior set, together with girls playing on Lyra/ harp and princess players in various medieval mystery plays! Hmm... how to make "mystery play" figurines is a mystery for me:))) What about 2 figurines of actors playing Adam and Eve actors playing figurines and snake on tree as theatrical decoration (vide foto in article in Wikipedia)? tight rope walkers and stilt walkers spring to mind. Got some idea how to make semi-3D tight rope walkers, but not sure... might be tricky. Stilt walkers - YES!

Hmm... how to make "mystery play" figurines is a mystery for me:))) What about 2 figurines of actors playing Adam and Eve actors playing figurines and snake on tree as theatrical decoration (vide foto in article in Wikipedia)? That could work! Only there should be an actor dressed as the snake. A "hell's mouth" and a few players dressed as demons were stock features of a lot of the mystery plays. My daughter was stationed in Bavaria during the 1990s. She had me over for 10 days as a father's day gift. We went all sorts of places, including the Ritterturnier at Kaltenburg. I saw stilt walkers there, along with other exotic groups of entertainers. That's where I heard Corvus Corax! Have fun! Steve

Cutfiles here: cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fantasyadventuregsd&action=display&thread=4534Mesper - these are great. Two things though: 1) Why are there no women? We need women musicians! This was a pretty big shock and limits their use for me. :-( Please put some in an expansion set or something. 2) The cutfile registration lines are not in a good place. I had to invert all the files to make them fit easily, and then your banner/logo gets in the way of auto-detecting them. Could you: 2a) Move the registration lines to be at least .5" from each edge or 2b) Move your banner to the side? Or inside the cutlines?

It's amazing, I like this photo very much - great job! Thank you for cutfiles and posting photo!!! 1) Why are there no women? We need women musicians! This was a pretty big shock and limits their use for me. :-( Please put some in an expansion set or something. Oh right!I was going to add some singing Milady as well as girl playing on harp/lira but then decided to move harp player figurine into "interior"set and simply forgot about singing one... Actually in Castle Tenants /interior (not sure how to name it?) set there will be much more ladies (Ladies issue? 2) The cutfile registration lines are not in a good place. I had to invert all the files to make them fit easily, and then your banner/logo gets in the way of auto-detecting them. Could you: 2a) Move the registration lines to be at least .5" from each edge or 2b) Move your banner to the side? Or inside the cutlines? Of course I'd like to have good registration marks, so thanks for suggestion! But I'm kinda lost... I took template from Hoard Section... and just thicken previous/thin marks... May I send to you an empty page (layout) with corrected reg. marks and shifted banner - so you can check it and let me know if these changes are correct (so I can implement these in incoming sets)? Or (sorry if I'm asking too much?) perhaps you could post some empty layout with reg. marks here on forums - so also other could use it?
