First off, for those who have been trying to contact me about various things, I apologize for my silence and my absence. After a papermodel hiatus of some weeks due to a slew of video projects I'm finally back to creating new content. So the firsst thing I did was to revise some old content, specifically the "Apocalypse RV" or "Wasteland Winnebago". I released this as a freebie five years ago and in all that time no one noticed that there were no headlights, until last month. So that's been fixed and a few other things tidied up and improved. Go get it now and start running away from zombies and giant bugs in style. www.mayheminpaper.papermakeit.com/Squirmydad%27s_Madness/Welcome.html

I also found my works files for the Spaceballs Eagle V mod so I'm working on that again. It was kind of funny to look at an old project like this and remember how long it took to make something so simple, and how much back and forth fudging and mistakes I made just in the 3d model. I rebuilt the 3d version in just a few minutes to serve as the basis of the Eagle V mod, some things are so simple now. So all of the video work is complete; seven shows, over a hundred hours of editing. All the sick employees are back at work and I'm not jumping back and forth across town trying to work on two shows at once ("Zombie Prom:The Musical" and, "The Dining Room") and my wife's car is up and running. So it's an all-around "yay!" Also while I was moving files around and making room for the video data while I was working on them I plugged in an old backup hard-drive and found some gems that I thought I'd lost when my main back-up h-d bought the farm two years ago; Found a big pile of airship files including the incomplete Wotan. I thought all of my hovercraft work was gone forever, I have to start over on the texture work, but all of the 3d, basic layouts, and gsd files were there. I'm glad I wrote lots of notes when I was working on them the first time. And something else I'm working on to coincide with the eventual release of my Tsarist Cogs; But first I have to get the Urutu APC uploaded and move a diesel train into the aether. I'm a little fatigued from the past month's activities, but I'm feeling good.

I remember helping test build the vanillas for alot of the airships. Wow that was several years ago. I still have the Wotan around here somewhere. I used transparencies for the prop blades. Good times! I'm glad that you found the hover stuff and that it wasn't lost. That was alot of work. ;D

Yeah, I was pretty happy to find those again, their initial loss was quite depressing. I'm sketching a tank hunter variant with missile and BFG options for the medium chassis size. I'm hoping to start releasing them this summer.

Official State of Mayhem UpdateThere are days when I think I should have picked a different business name, like "Calm and Meditative Models in Paper" Been a super busy year with the acquisitions of the One Monk site, this forum, and the One Monk line of miniatures. First off, a huge thank you to the Cardboard-Warriors community; This forum would not be so pleasant and successful without you. I've gotten a great deal of thanks and praise since I took all of this on, thanks and you're welcome, but seriously I wouldn't have been able to do everything I've done so far, and wouldn't have wanted to do it, if you weren't such good people. If yoou weren't such good people I would have needed to be an Iron Tyrant instead of a Velvet Brick, which would have been no fun for anyone. It's because of the participation of the public forum that the Forum Hoards are up and running again. So thanks for your participation, your good humor, and your helpfulness to everyone who wanders in here. When I first took the plunge back in July/August and bought the One Monk line my first thought was, "Aah! What have I done?" But the line has paid for itself quite well and I've recouped my investment as well as purchased a new Silhouette Portrait and a Rocstor 2TB external hard-drive for frequent back-ups. I also purchased a program called Data Drill and was able to go into my old drive from years ago that failed on me and recover the working files for a lot of my old projects, more on them later this year. So the Honeymoon period has been pretty good, lots of work, but pretty good. The site has been updated with another layout version of the Starship Troopers Warrior bug, more cutter friendly, I just havent had time to make the cutting file for it, love it if somebody else jumped on it. One Monk DownloadsI also added Floydski's excellent Shadow and Highlight process to the Tutorials section, definitely worth a look; TutorialsRight now I am making a figure per day for upcoming sets, not all for the same set though as my plan is to have a bunch of things finished and then have them all launch one week apart so that there will be steady releases for a few months, instead of trickling them out every now and then. My big push this year is in completing old unfinished projects, of which there are too many, and continuing to expand and flesh out some of the One Monk Miniature lines (Elven Light Cavalry, Skelebot vehicle, Terra Force Insurgents, etc.) Speaking of upcoming sets, it occurred to me that there are three free fantasy sets available, but no sci-fi sets. I've started working on the free SF set, some of the figures have already shown up in the past few Hordes, but what are some things that should be, that you want to see, in a free set of One Monk SF figures. Do let me know, I listen to every request, just sometimes the answer is "No". In August I will be attending Gen-Con for the second time, lat time was in 1988. Anyone else who is going and wants to split a hotel room just PM me. Thanks all, looking forward to 2014 and beyond.

Funny bit; Found a site that rates and values your site so I plugged in One Monk.com and apparently it's worth $1,200 due to site traffic and other sites referencing and linking to it. Which I find amusing since 99% of what's there is free content.

Once upon a time, there was a gentleman named Patrick Crusiau, who also goes by the names of Gwindel or Bhoritz depending when in the timestream you encounter him. He liked boardgames, and tabletop games, and rpg games that involved figures. He wanted to make his own boardgames, and tabletop armies, but it's a lot of work on your own. Then this thing called the internet came along and through it's series of tubes he found other people who had the same ideas. So he started a Yahoo group called Brabantini, ostensibly to gather and collaborate with others in the creation of different games. That way one person wasn't trying to do it all and projects, like games, are always more fun in groups.
Out of the Brabantini group came an idea called "Visions in Paper" when a young man named Jim Hartman had an idea for a monthly themed showcase involving paper miniatures and models. From here sprang all kinds of delightful creations and amazing people crafting new paper model and miniature sites; Paperworlds (the lost kingdom), Papermakeit, Finger & Toe Models, Armor Grid Games, Oversoul Games, Okumarts Games, the Cardboard Warriors Forum, and many more!
.......the history as I recall it....
I'm pleased to have played a small part in that history of creation and expansion and I'll be always happy to help a new artist to find a place to hang their hat.

Oh my word! I don't know what to say. However I am awfully glad that my models were a part of your founding inspiration. I have found my part built final version Aphid, though I don't think I have the white paper prototype models for the Aphid and my other Space 1889 models anymore. Looking at my Aphid with new eyes though I can see that there are some things I didn't do so well, but wouldn't be at all hard to correct. I really must have a search through all my old back-up hard drives to see if I still have any of the old artwork for my Brabantini projects as I'm sure that if they were dusted off and tweaked just a little they'd be fine to present to the world again.

After months of disarray and inconvenience the home office of Mayhem in Paper is finally starting to take shape. I tore everything apart right after I launched the Sentry Tripod so I haven't had a real workspace for months. I probably won't get a window until spring, but the printer works so I can get projects rolling again.
