Hey! I am working on a new dungeon crawl game. It is going to be VERY original. I am not in this alone! I have the following people collaborating on-board with this, and they are all contributing: Alyssa Faden/ Jack Cull (Torn World) BilliamBabble (Inked Adventures) Devin Night (Immortal Nights) Eric Lofgren (Artist supreme) oh, and me... This game has the potential to be HUGE! The Warmancers game has done very well, and I look for this to DOUBLE that (or at least match it). Here is a sample pic. Thanks for your attention. I have been trying to coordinate with 6 people in 5 times zones... and getting all of my ducks (and permissions) in a row. I have green flags across the board, but just waiting to get some feedback from everyone. No release date at this point... but once it hits, you will know... oh yes, you will know!

Looks interesting. Though my campaign is heavy into roleplaying, a night of simply dungeon delving could be a pleasant break from having to write a new adventure every week.

That's my hopes. My gaming party disbanded years ago when people got married and having kids and raising families. My plan is that you get the same RPG feel in a board game.
Still in development, but I am actually considering adding "Quest/Mission" cards. You have to complete the mission in order to leave, or you "lose."
In an advanced version, everyone has their OWN missions they have to complete. It might be to find something, destroy something or steal/rescue something... You might have to steal something that someone else is trying to destroy... nothing like having someone trying to rescue a character you were sent to kill....

Well, I like to "design", revise and generally "parduzzing" around game mechanics (my programming mind likes to tamper the with roll odds, probabilities and so on) and i'm good for rulebook proofreading (as a bad english speaker/reader, i'm your best simulator of a dumb player: if i can understand it, almos everyone will do ). If you (you Dreamteam) need my skills, feel free to ask.

What? ME make a mistake? I will take you up on that... Because of the people involved, I want to make sure that I produce a high quality product. This thing is going to have so many rooms, hallways and corridors... over 39 creatures and 19 heroes. There are plenty of little extras, as well.

I am seriously behind schedule on this largely due to a three day get-a-way weekend with my wife... SO I am hitting this very hard today and hammering it out. Here is the cover featuring the artwork of Eric Lofgren. I am very happy to report that there are some big names associated with this product. If you are a fan of old-school style RPGs (and who isn't) this game will give you the feel and excitement of a campaign in a couple hours (if all goes according to plan). Any thoughts? Attachments:

This is looking very good!
From your description of quests/missions, I suppose it can also be played solo?

The only that comes out from my shortsighted and strained eyes is that the "flaming" text could have a sord of "black contour" to augment the readability. Other than that, you're tickling my curiosity to the limit

As it stands, there are something like 21 different creatures, 19 heroes, and unlimited potential.
I still have a LONG way to go on my portion of this, but it is coming along fantastically!
As far as solo play, of course! Being a gamer myself, I design everything to be solo or multi-player.
I will try to get some test shots posted. If you are curious about it so far, wait until you see the actual pieces I action. I can't say it is the "best" dungeon game ever created, but I can say it is the "best dungeon game I have ever created."
Once I get this all squared around, I am considering talking to DramaScape about doing a Sci-Fi version. Perhaps, even doing a Western one based on an idea I had a couple of years ago.
We shall see.

Here is one of the test games I was working with. Look at how well Devin Night's images blend with BilliamBabble's tiles. Devin actually placed his figures on Bb's artwork. I think I need to adjust some things, because there were creatures coming out of the woodwork. As you can see here, running from a black dragon triggers a Chimera and a Griffin. I think his chances were better against the dragon. Now, that is saying a LOT! Devin has done hundreds of creatures (and adventurers, as well). They look so good, there may be a LOT of expansion packs. ;D Attachments:

I like the top downs too, and I wanted to mention I think they look better on the "floor tiles" than on the blue fields that they first showed up on. If you are looking for input on that sort of thing.

I always am looking for input, CBL! ;D
The original images were the actual products "right out of the box." The later images are the "officially licensed product" images.
I have been coordinating with 6 people in 5 time zones to get rights and permissions to be able to put all of this together.
The top-downs were from my friend that ironically lives here in Ohio, as well. He does these, and when I saw his work, I INSTANTLY thought of the tiles from Inked Adventures.
I am glad that people are willing to work with me (I must not be THAT bad). I have been working on a dungeon crawl game for about 8 years, and I knew this was the time to get it all together.
MOST of what this game includes isn't my work... it uses other people's artwork and images, but since I am a game designer, it has me at the heart of the project.
It is great, though, to have this crew working together.

Just added another member to the dream team!!!
I invited Reivaj to bring his adventurers to the game. This will give people options between double-fronted figures OR front and back figures.
A little something for everyone. ;D

Here is my philosophy:
If you can draw, do. If you find someone else that draws better than you (which isn't hard to do in my case), then work with then in a collaboration.
I am nearly through the next phase... I have had to get some revisions "ok'd" for the Heroes of Torn characters.
There are going to be tons of figures available for this in the long-run.
This set is actually bringing my "quality" to a higher level.
Warmancers is a good level of "professionalism," but this one really raises the bar.
I plan on revisiting Era Of War and applying the tricks and techniques I have taught myself over the last few months.
If you don't like this game, then you DON'T like old-school dungeon games.
The artwork for this set is AMAZING! (I can say that because very little of it is mine).

K, have you played Super Dungeon Explore yet? This is starting to look very similar. Not being critical, just pointing that out.

Thanks for pointing that out, but I have not heard of it. I can assure you that even if it looks similar the play is totally different and original.

Looks great! My only thought would be to change the text to something like this... Morieka can use two action and make a Close Combat Attack on all adjacent enemies.
Roll your attack as normal. All adjacent enemies make a Saving Roll. ____________________ Changes: Using Morieka's name because it's her card. Separating out the two lines of text Restating that only adjacent enemies need to make a save roll onemonkeybeau

That is a good idea, OMB, but I want the text on abilities to say "this figure" so the text can be used on MANY figures. There are MANY in this set and at least 24 more on the way.
There are very few abilities that actually name figures, and those are assigned to them, and them alone. Sweep is pretty common. She is actually mounted on a 2x2 (large) base, so that accounts for her long sword.
If you are familiar with Torn World characters (there are cards for 24 in this set, so there will be at LEAST 48 figures when it is said and done) there are a few abilities like Sweep, Agile and such that are repeated. There are certain characters that have an affinity for others, too.
I may have to hammer out some of the text so it flows better.
There are a couple "if/then" abilities, too. "If ... then, ..." These are also repeated... "If ... then ... +1. If ... then ... +1, as well." These look redundant, but I want to drive home that certain situations can give you +1, and if something else happens, you get ANOTHER +1.
I just have one image I am waiting on and I have to do the stats for the creatures... and some tokens for effects.
Once these are done, it is playtest time! ;D
Maybe a week or so. My contractor gig is picking up, and that is what pays the bills.

This is looking fun Kila! One thing, the symbols down the right side of the card may be just a tad too ghostly. The "sun" and "lightning bolt" both make me squint. Maybe all it needs is a different order so there is more contrast in the adjacent numbers Dunno, its your game

Wouldn't you know it... the two darker shapes happened to fall on the darkest parts of the card. I tried to do darker outlines and such on the symbols, but they really over-powered the card. I made them lighter so that card looked more balanced. After you look at the printed cards, you get used to seeing the colors (green=movement, red=attack, and so forth), that you kind of ignore the shapes... they are more or less a reminder. Don't you love how I ask for feedback, and then explain why I am not going to follow the advice I asked for... Seriously, I just wanted to explain why I did what I did. When you see the treasure chests, it all makes more sense, as well. If you get something that makes you move faster, it has the green compass/ arrow-thingy with a +1 on it. These could be "Boots of speed" or "Magical roller-skates." You get a bare-bones symbol and you can say it is whatever you want. You can make it as silly, or serious as you choose. I, personally, will play it out to be more "Lord of the Rings" but I am sure people can play it more "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" if they choose. It is all about having fun and getting a great adventure in. If people play it and enjoy themselves, then my job is done. ;D

Provide good crunch and let the players have the fluff they like. Sounds like a good plan to me!
