This is one I designed more than a year ago, before I took my long hiatus from modeling. The Colony Barracks is inspired by the Hadley's Hope colony from the movie Aliens (maybe you've heard of it). The command tower is optional, so you'll get at least a couple of distinct models out of the one kit. Lots of optional gribblies too (wall/windows, antenna modules, power generators). This one's ready for texturing, along with the Livestock Shelter, but I'm in a "geometry mood" so I might roll with that until I'm ready to switch gears. Since folks have commented that the Livestock Shelter looks like a market stall, I might do something like that.

Do you model in Sketch Up? I use Wings3D most of the time but it is terrible if you want to work to a specific scale.

I didn't use SketchUp for this one, but I have used SketchUp here and there.
I create most of my models (all but two or three, probably) entirely in 2D in Photoshop.

It looks like this set is going to be broken up into two separate kits. The "command tower" part is going to become the top of a Spaceport Tower model, which will be a stand-alone kit. You'll be able to take the top of the Spaceport Tower and put it on top of the Colony Barracks as an option.
I'm also working on a Refining Station model, which makes 4 sci-fi kits on the drawing board (Colony Barracks, Spaceport Tower, Cargo Pods, Refining Station). I may come up with some other stuff that fits with this theme before I start texturing anything -- which would be smart, because it'll mean that the textures are more unified in appearance. And If I'm clever, I'll find more ways to combine parts from the different sets. We'll see what happens.

It is nice to see new sci-fi models coming from you Dave. Not that I dislike the fantasy ones, by the way.
