From onemonk;
Hi, my name is Jim.
I have designed some paper crap in the past, but have dropped out for some time.
After helping transferring full ownership of the forum to squirmydad, I'll be getting involved more on a limited basis.
I'll be dabbling again with the paper figure design stuff, with forum hordes and contests, and the possibility of new sets sold through One Monk Miniatures.
I won't be as hardcore as before, I still like to paint and sculpt, and write horrible game rules, but I do miss the challenge of designing these things and look forward to creating some stuff again. JIM
Sorry, he was using the old admin account which I now control.

From onemonk;
Pretty good actually. Spent a year getting healthy, then realized I am a nerd and can't possibly keep up the lifestyle, so I'm back to getting unhealthy, but happier geek life.
Still work at LITKO Game Accessories, designing all the fun game accessories and add-ons, and still quite enjoy it.
Struggling to get back into the hobby stuff, but have built up a huge unpainted pile, have a tom of tools and supplies, now it's just a matter of dividing my time between all this crap.
I'll be switching from paper modeling, to painting, game design and whatever as get tired of each thing. It's tough being a hobby market designer, and splitting up your creative energy between work and personal projects without really burning out big time.
Slowly, I'll be getting more involved here, but not like I used to, I just don't have the energy to commit to it. JIM

JIM!! Glad to see you bro!
Hey everybody I'm Michael. I've been around here since Jim first started the one monk site. It really looked alot different back then. Before that I initially got involved at Paperworlds right before it disappeared and was resurrected by Claudio. I have made a ton of friends here and love how the forum guys support and encourage each other. This place really is one of a kind.
I love paper models and all of the aspects of the hobby. That being said, my drawing skills are abysmal,so I stick mostly to building, moding and recoloring other peoples stuff. I am working on improving, but its a process. I think building the models is my favorite. It really helps to destress. My first paper model was for one of the old MMIPs and can be found in Showcase #35 "Terrors of the Deep" It was a giant squid that took forever because I was learning GIMP at the same time. I have since switched over to photoshop and love it.
Currently my laser printed is waiting on a new drum (amazing how fast I printed 35000 copies), so I am back using my old HP ink jet. I was really spoiled with the laser printer and am finding it difficult readjusting, but I am getting there. So much so that I am looking at a continuous ink system for it! I look forward to actually designing some stuff hopefully in the near future, but until then, I'll content myself with some of the great offerings by all of the great artists here!
Michael

Hi peoples! I go by Flock of These, and/or Mobius Archer on the internet. You can also call me by my real name, Ryan. I'm new here. I love all types of games. I get together with some friends to play board games almost every Wednesday. I mostly read military sci-fi, and I watch pretty much anything sci-fi. I especially like dieselpunk, but that's not very common. I get a craving for fantasy every now and then, but Its cured with a single book, then I'm done for a while. My favorite movie is the Princess Bride, because there just aren't any sci-fi movies that lift my spirits the way it does. I'm a big anime fan too. I mostly got into anime because of how much I like mechs. I'm a mecha fanatic. I grabbed a copy of Mechwarrior 2 in the clearance section of a KB toy store a long time ago. It took a while to decide between that and some other game, and I remember it being a difficult decision. Deciding on Mechwarrior 2 ended up being a real life changing event for me. I became obsessed over night.
I love miniatures games, even though I don't have the best mind for it. Unfortunately, im poor, and also have a hard time convincing people to play them with me. Early this year I was browsing the internet one day, and stumbled on the knowledge that there are miniatures games playable with solo rules! I settled on 5150 Star Soldier for the time being. I have this thing where I cant get myself to do things without the whole shabang. I came across WorldWorksGames terrain sets, which I thought was a great fit for me since I do like making paper models from time to time. I also bought a bunch of 15mm miniatures from Rebel Minis. At first I was thrilled at the discovery that generic 15mm miniatures are so cheap that I can easily afford them. After a making a couple buildings I got sick of the whole thing though. Shrinking everything down from 28mm to 15mm makes the modeling more tedious than fun. I "took a break" from the whole thing. After several months I realized that I had to make the terrain at a larger scale if I was ever going to restart the project. The larger size minis are too expensive for me though. Its not that I cant afford them, but when you only get 5 guys for 30 bucks, and you need way more than 5, I just cant justify that with my budget. A few days ago I went online in search of alternatives. I was thinking maybe I could just find something good enough for a temporary army stand in, but I may just stick with paper once I found what was available in paper. I do enjoy the painting though, so who knows. I had a hard time deciding weather I wanted to go with computer generated, or the more stylized hand drawn type. I made a couple sample figures to test out. I really liked the computer generated figures because of how well they looked with the more detailed terrain textures, but I didn't like how difficult it was to see what equipment they were using when I wasn't looking closely, and how many sets lacked a good weapon variety. I also really preferred minis where the figures were facing the sides over the ones that were facing straight front and back. I only found a couple army's of the computer generated figures that were set up that way. The rest were either front/back or mixed. For now im going to stick with the hand drawn figures. For the price though, I will most likely also get the CG figures eventually.
So far I have purchased all of Slick's Miniatures' N.C.C. army. The WorldWorksGames sets I got a while back were Mars Station, Red Sector, and Platform Command: Battleground. I pretty much only bought Red Sector, and PC Battleground for the modular vehicles and mechs though. I really like how I can make almost any ground vehicle I need with those sets, though It would be nice to have some pieces for a tank body and turret. When I finish my N.C.C. army, I will get some One Monk Terra Force, Chimera Brood, and probably some mutants as well. I also Want to get a few more terrain sets. I want The city streets set, the western streets set (mainly for the non street tiles), the Hinterland sets, and some swift scenics stuff. I also want to browse some other companies sets as well. Feel free to give me suggestions.

If your looking for a good (and affordable) Sci-fi Mech based game then I'd recommend Armor Grid: Mech Attack. It's in 15mm scale and has some really amazing 2.5D models and terrain. Here is a link: Armor Grid: Mech Attack

Thanks. I book marked it. I might get it just for the easy to assemble mechs. Does if have any solo play rules? I think everything is fairly easy to assemble in the set and it has multiple units to a page. It doesn't have any solo rules but it's really easy to play by yourself (I've played a few solo games, I basically just play the opposing side like I think they would react). The rules are easy to learn and I think under 30 pages (that's with the rules in the terrain pack) and has tons of customization. There are even some neat user created house rules and scenarios on "The Grid" Armor Grids Forum. WaffleM (Armor Grid) also has a thread here with pics and pics of a neat aircraft set in the works. Here is a link: The Grid

Hey, look! I found the forum again. Will see how long it sticks. Sorry, I tend to fall in and out of forums. My attention span is...finite. Hi! My name is Matt. Been in the paper community for...a long, long time now. So long, I forgot what the old forum was called! Currently in the midst of too many projects to count (attention span again...). I did start a FaceBook page for my projects, though, to try and keep me focused (Crushed Earth Productions). Have a tower defense board-game that is 85% finished (needs polish and waiting on official board/miniatures). Have several other associated board-games in varying states of completion. The namesake RPG of the company, Crushed Earth and a GURPS-like skirmish system that has been driving me swiftly over the edge. OH! Almost forgot. Paper minis to go along with the RPG created by my incredibly talented friend Raph. He is my go-to artist for Crushed Earth. Will go post samples.

Hi, firstly my name is Malcolm and I am not from the Arctic. I am from Southcentral Alaska, which is a Sub Arctic regime, but Subarctic Dragon has crummy alliteration, hence the Arctic Dragon moniker, which is what I also use on the Mantic Forum and Dakka!Dakka! Secondly, congratulations to Squirmydad for purchasing One Monk Miniatures! Thirdly, I like paper terrain because of my limited storage capacity. Fourthly, I like TTWG: Full Thrust, Kings of War, Warpath, Mordheim, etc. Fifthly, how is it that paper trees are not redundant?

Hello. My name is Vell and my love of RPGs brought me to paper miniatures. I started playing D&D with friends back in 1983 and now I play all sorts of RPGs with my wife and son.
Yes, it is addictive printing, cutting, gluing, edging, etc all those wonderful paper minis!

Hey guys my name is Vin and I am also a recovering 40k player haha. Recently however I found my old love, Advanced Heroquest, and have become obsessed with restoring it to an attractive (with better models/terrain-tiles) and smarter package to get my gaming group hooked. While searching for terrain-tile alternatives I found this incredible forum and fear I will be spending a lot of time here. Are there any other AHQ players here?

Welcome to the forum Vin, Vell, Malcolm, Ryan ... and welcome to all new and old users ( the first is Big Jim 9: Paper figures' hobby is a great pleasure imho (for gaming , for collecting, for the artistic possibilities that it offers to those who have skills ... ) and more people are interested more it can spread. But this is a great forum regardless. Founded by Jim ( Onemonk ), continued by Nik and Aaron ( Sanity Studios ). Now Eric ( Mayhem in Paper )is the new admin and owner. They have invested in it time, effort and certainly money. They are all great indie producers but this is because they are all great authors ( skilled artists ), and when you have great ability to produce commercially (which I believe it doesn't make a lot, quite the contrary ) is just another proof of their artistic abilities. ( ... mmm ... I hope I was not too confused with my "italian" English ). So... Welcome! gunzhard: I played AH, but many years ago But in the forum there are excellent resources ( paper figures ) for Heroquest. I recommend look for Jabbro's paper minis.

Yeah that Google-translate option is quite impressive. Just to be clear, I'm not looking for paper figures/miniatures, but instead paper terrain 3d dungeon type stuff that would fit with Advanced Heroquest... that spanish forum you linked, does in fact also have a big section on terrain, so thanks again!

Hey all, Papercraft newbie here, looking to find some cool stuff to waste time on! I actually stumbled across the forums as I began searching the web for more goodies to use with/for Armor Grid. Or more specifically, for Heavy Gear Blitz. I picked the game up at GenCon this year and won't spend a fortune on minis. I found the AG 2.5D stuff and LOVE it! Suoer cool and CUSTOMIZABLE.
I'm primarily an old-school D&D guy, so never got too crazy with minis, but they are fun sometimes. I also play Heroquest sometimes (not Advanced though)and can see paper being cool for that.
Loking forward to poking around the site and getting to know everyone!

Hi, my name is Eric. I'm a theate technician, technical director, lighting, sound and scenic designer and live in Alaska. I have a little online store called Mayhem in Paper to sell some of my papertoys and I have a site with lots of free toys. I like War of the Worlds, VSF/Steampunk vehicles and battle games, Japanese architecture and samurai, sci-fi tanks and robots, cliffhanger serial thrillers, and painting fantasy and sci-fi minis for games of 40K, Pathfinder, and various "Song of..." rulesets, and ice cream. I like ice cream.
I used to manage the Models & Miniatures in Paper Showcase, I now manage the Papercuts Showcase. I'm also the new Merciful Overlord of the Cardboard Warriors Empire(tm).

Guess I should introduce myself too then. I'm Kevin. I hail from the land at the southern tip of Africa. I'm a commercial artist by trade, doing work ranging from graphic design to illustration with many interesting and uninteresting things in between. I also create papercraft gaming scenery and paper miniatures and a few other odds and ends which can be found at my online store www.papercraftdungeon.com. I recently did an interview with a local vlogger, and I'll send you all to it as soon as it gets uploaded!

Ok if we had a convention people would literally be coming from all over the world and it still wouldn't enough to fill a ballroom in a medium sized hotel.

My name is Matt, I'm a "retired" semi-pro football player(15 seasons) and long time war gamer/RPG player. I have switched from metal/plastic miniatures for the most part to paper because of cost and storage issues. I am in awe of the talent on this board.

Ok. Ok. If I'm gonna reply to posts, I should take a sec to say hi here. My name's Mike - I spend most of my time kitbashing WWG stuff. I've been a huge fan of the talents on the forums here for a while, and after seeing Dryw's standees, I convinced myself I would try making some myself. I haven't yet. But, I've got a light box, a big ol' tombow marker set, a bunch of sketches and ideas, and a nagging feeling that I'll be a happier person if I can make at least one standee that someone else finds useful. I'm just not good at finding time.
Thank you everyone who has been contributing to the forums here. Lots of fantastic talent, and great constructive feedback that even lurkers like me benefit greatly from.

Okay, I'm around for quite a while now, so I can just as well introduce myself properly... I'm a freelance journalist (which sounds more important than it actually is) and (published) RPG game author from Germany. I cannot draw, but I'm quite good with Photoshop, so re-colouring and mods are my specialties... I started collecting cardstock minis because I had to promise my wife to stop buying metal and plastic ones (due to storing issues ).
