Newbie Fritzl65 long time AD&D player.. my sons are just getting started and I would like to make scenery... My wife had the Silhouette cameo 3. i hope to learn what works best... now.of to the help section to post Thank you for.reading Fritz Hi Fritz! I also taught my two sons D&D, back in the day. I think 3.5 is a little more straight forward than AD&D. I guess it might be hard to get now. Many people like 5th Edition, but I have not tried it personally. Have fun, whatever you play.

This is my introduction post. There are many like it but this one is mine.
You may have heard of me, I am Jeff the Many-Splendored, an ancient 2 Hit Dice humanoid half-potato which first sprouted in the era of the glorious X-Generation of the 1970's ...and had my first wandering encounter with 1d6+1 AD&D hardcover books in the early 80's.
I have some real friends offline, for real; they are named Fonkin Hoddypeak, Beek Gwenders of Croodle, and Frush O'Suggil... verified legit (make a Sense Motive check DC 5).

Hello all ...I'm new here, but not new to crafting (I actually started a papercraft(ish) youtube channel at the beginning of the year). Most of the stuff I make is primarily for use in my own RPG sessions (so it's mostly been fantasy stuff thus far - with 'the dungeon' getting the most attention), but I do plan on tackling more and more environments over time (depending on where my games take me). Anyway, they say a picture is worth a thousand words ...so here some of the stuff I've been designing/drawing/assembling (and if it's OK I'll post a link the the youtube channel that features all the instructions, and links to the pdf files).

Very nicely done. Clean and precise.
And that brings me to something that surprises me. Basing on corrugated cardboard. One doesn't see this used much because it generally leaves ragged edges.
How do you cut it so cleanly?

I'm just using a cheap (disposable) box cutter and a metal rule(r). However, the whole 'exposed edges' thing does bother some people, but I'm not very particular about such things (as I have a quick and easy, semi-disposable outlook), and once everything is on the table and the dice are rolling, you barely even notice them *so a better option might be black foamboard ...which is what I'll be using for my sci-fi tiles ...when I eventually get around to them.

The times I have tried to use corrugated cardboard, I always had to go back with manicure scissors to clean up the edges. Nicely done

I think many folks here would probably opt for foamboard or mountboard/matboard as a basis for paper and card modelling, chiefly because they're more durable than corrugated card, and also they don't have the high acid-content many types of paper used for making corrugated card possess, which can be very destructive of anything in direct contact with it over even relatively short (months, say) periods of time.

Yeah, I think that's one of the nice things about supplying these as textures - folks can use them however they like (i.e. if you're like me, and need something quick, cheap, and easy for an upcoming D&D game, just slap them on some cardboard and away you go. But if you have more time and materials, you could really go to town on them).

Oh dear, where did the time go?!? November is winding down, but before it's over, I'd like to look back to the two months of welcomes I missed! 17 members joined us in September. Seventeen in September. I like how that sounds. Harryalerta, jmarsh62, macarvajal, ironed, monsewercrapaud, and dungeondecorator - you all took the time to introduce yourselves with a post to the forums, and I appreciate it! Participation, whether it's creating content, sharing how you are using content, asking questions, or just chatting about gaming, all helps the forums stay interesting! October brought 14 more members to our shores. wookieechan, pmiranda, iemcd, alxbates and fritzl65 - you are also among the brave members who posted in their first month. Keep posting! Providing positive feedback on the things you enjoy seeing is a great way to keep great threads alive. The hoards continue to grow as well. If anyone new here isn't aware of the downloads section on the onemonk site (http://onemonk.com/downloads.html) - check it out! Lots of great stuff there. Thanks for being here, everyone.

Hi! Welcome to the Cardboard Warriors forum. We are always happy to hear from new members so step right and tell us about yourself. Hi, Veteran rpg and minis gamer recently back into the hobby. Really keen to find some WW2 or weird WW2 and other pulp era minis, for a tabletop game I'm running.

Welcome. There are a number of WW2 models available on the forum here. Go to the top and hit 'Search', and you will find some. Marcos has some very nice Mechs at www.toposolitario.com/workshop/steammecha.html. Dave Graffam has a number of ruins that would be useful, www.davesgames.net/. Rawen and Paran has some useful models, most in 1/100, prmodels.eu/When ecardmodels.com site gets rebuilt, it will have the PaperTigerArmaments models, as well as others, but they are doing a full rebuild of the site, so I'm not sure when it will be back

This database will let you search the Hoards up to number 98 or so. After that you kind of have to search around. Also there are non-Hoard figures that might be useful. It is a bit like archaeology. Also, if you get an image that ends in .org that won't open, try switching it to end .cc Have Fun! Edit: er...here is the database cardboard-warriors.proboards.com/thread/3944/hoard-lexicon

Hello all,
I am a d&d and warhammer (40k and fantasy) player that got a silhouette cameo some many months ago and never took it out of the box. I'm really curious to see what it can do and your forum was recommended to me on Facebook. I hope to have some cool things to share soon.

Hi there, I'm Snow. I'm down here in New Zealand, and I caught the paper terrain bug. It all started around May 2017 when I discovered the Fat Dragon bundle on the Bundle of Holding site. I grabbed it because I liked the look of it, and was planning on running a D&D game at some point and wanted to make it awesome with terrain. A year and a half later and I now have over 4 gigs of papercraft terrain sitting on my PC to use. And use it I have. First thing I created? The GM Screen! Had no idea how big it actually was before I started Then I started running a Starfinder campaign. So I had to find some sci-fi terrain to build. And then I built my players a spaceship to explore: But if they also decide to explore a mine on a planet? I've got that covered too: And recently I got bored and decided to put together a Watchtower, just because I hadn't made anything in a while: Yeah, I painted the models on the tower. It's one of my other hobbies, along with gaming (PC and tabletop), reading, and making stuff out of chainmail. I'm not quite certain how it has taken me a year and a half to discover this site, or that there are other people making terrain aside from FDG, but I'm glad to have found it all the same and look forward to seeing what other people have done.

Hi All I guess you could say that I have a professional interest in standees in that I make fully printed and cut out standups out of MDF and Birch Ply, could be anything really but the wood works really well. I love these kinds of things and am always looking for inspiration - I'll just put here for this evening the standees I did for place settings for our Christmas dinner table. Cheers Andrew

Outstanding! I always like to look at things from other vantage points- paper toys, vintage models, cereal cut-outs, etc. I have a feeling we could all learn from each other. Welcome

Well, I think I did it. With this post, I think I pulled off a welcome for each month of 2018! First, let me welcome our 17 December newbies, with some special thanks: jonf, chucklemaster, blckbuster, mike2019 - thanks for not only signing up, but for making your first post! I will try this year to be more proactive in welcoming the newcomers as they arrive. I'd love for folks to share here what they're interested in, what their backgrounds are in, or how they stumbled onto the forums. If you're so inclined, feel free to message me directly and let me know what you find good or bad about the forums! Feedback might help make things more accessible in the future. Thanks for being here, everyone!

Hello, Yes, the new guy. Been table top RPG player since '77. While I have a ton of figures, I find time and money are things that keep me from painting. So, I've started using paper figures in my games. They are much easier to deal with. Hoping I'll find some ideas here. Found this group via the Cardboard Warriors FB group.
