My wife and I played a fun game of Song of Blades and Heroes Sunday. I played the cultists and she was the locals in Autumn Gold village. The premise is that a local girl that worked in the Giggling Goblin Inn went home early to care for her sick mother, but never made it. Unbeknownst to the villagers, a cult had snatched her off the street and planned to sacrifice her at midnight to summon a lesser daemon for their nefarious purposes. A fairly large party of local woodsmen, along with an Itinerant Cleric and local Hermit(Wizard)went looking for her. No one had gone missing from the village before, but they had heard of it happening in a couple of nearby hamlets recently. The figures are all One Monk and are from the Evil Cultists, Brigands and Dungeon Adventurers sets. The Cultist leader and lieutenants preparing the sacrifice: The search party closing in on the cultists position: The view from the road as the woodsmen advance: The cultist leader summons a fire elemental to stop the party from interrupting the ceremony: The fire elemental kills the wizard and causes a gruesome death! The locals flee! (Briefly) A cultist cuts down a woodsman also causing a gruesome death! By this point the locals were severely depleted, but made their morale checks for the most part. They were digging in for what I figured would be a long fight, and then I got lucky and killed the Cleric with a third gruesome death. That was it for the locals, they had some guys that were fallen fail their checks(death), and others failed and fled into the night(Off the board). The cultists were allowed to finish the ceremony and summon their daemon, but for what evil purpose you ask? Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of Song of Blades and Heroes!!

I have lost more games because of routing than anything else. I feel the woodsmens pain.

I am so loving those bases! Tell me they are easy to come by? They are Litko clear acrylic bases, that I think Jim made specially (can't remember the thread where this was brought up previously). You can find similar bases here, but they are only in circle & square shape, and there is no slot to hold the mini. I, too, would love to make an order for a bunch of medium, some small, some large, and some pill-shaped (for horses), since I'd rather spend my limited free time making minis & terrain than endless bases for different maps & terrain. (Though I do think that the One Monk bases & Reivaj redesign are brilliant, I just would rather focus on their even more brilliant minis!)

I like several of the folding bases that are out there but I have cut close to a hundred or so minis and glues the bottom tab so separating it for use with the folding bases is proving problematic. I was basing them on foam core and I like craft foam but those acrylic bases just look slick.

I'm going to try to get some paper specific bases in the Litko store. I have a list at work for the sizes. I'll start with just clear and black versions.
Anyone wanting specific bases, can contact me at work jim@litko.net, just give the me details of what you want, size, shape, quantity, etc. I can send you a link to custom order them through the Litko store.
Love the battle report, and how the figs look with the acrylic bases, I'll be doing all mine like that now.
I also need to get some Song of Blades gaming in, I have several warbands, and just toy around solo for now. I have a terrain project to make a SoBH board. Still need to figure out how to overcome the morale failures and all the low level guys running away. JIM

Yeah the morale thing really makes me never want to have a Q4 fighter in my warband ever. I mean you can make them fearless or something but you end up losing the low priced soldier when you start piling special rules on to them. I have a surprise for the fellow who keeps trouncing me though. Archers, lots of them. I am also working on a home grown magic supplement. The old WH battle magic set from the 90's converts really well to SBH and makes magi a force to be reckoned with.

I had sent Litko a FB message about getting those black/shadow paper bases back recently.

As Jim mentioned the bases are from Litko. We were talking on the forums a long while ago about using something like that, so he knocked up some prototypes and sent them to me. I ended up ordering a buttload of octagonal bases in different sizes from 20mm to 50mm. I also got two different sizes of pill bases. They are all I use. I love how they match whatever terrain I use because they are transparent. Ill post a pic tomorrow showing all of the different bases next to each other for comparison.
