Hi all... After a too long break, a bit of necromancy with this thread . A modest update with sword bearing knights. In civilian circumstances some carried the sword for personal defence (the guys with bucklers) others to show off and to make the lowly peasants clearly understand who is the lord here. The guy on the left was actually taken from a picture where he hold hands with his lady - so in his case, considering the medieval symbology, the sword was probably intended to indicate sincerity of his intentions. Without the lady he is IMHO more interesting. With somewhat retorical posture, he looks like he was addressing a crowd or a jury. There are some other sword bearing minis in the codex but I reserve them for more themed occasions. Hope you like them.

It's been a while for me, too, and it seems I didn't get around to making cutfiles for everything... I'm going to *slowly* make files for... lets see... the courtly love minis, the frauenzimmer figures, the pavillion, and then the men of swords. Let's see if I catch up before you put more out! I must have done the previous set of cutfiles before owning the Cameo - they are in the older studio format. Would you be opposed to me creating PDF files for each, with layers for the old and new reg marks?

Not at all.
When i will finish the whole Codez Manesse line (I expect to make some 10 more sets of minis with some additional 2,5 / 3D structures) I intend to gather and publish them all in single PDF with some layered options (thicker borderline, regmarks... I don't know maybe some colour options). In the meantime feel free to do with them wathever makes them more useful to you (within CC licence limits). If you make the cutfiles, I'd like to have them on my blog, as with the remaining sets, if you're ok with that.

These are fantastic, great work!

Just spent and hour or so looking at the Codex Manesse source you linked to, and I have to say I am even more impressed with your work after comparing your mini's with the original images you worked from. Aside from the awesome backs to the figures, you did a phenomenal job of repairing little details, sharpening up the images, and making them work properly as paper minis, all while maintaining the integrity of the source illustrations. For your next trick I vote for a mini of this dude who is far too happy to have a sword through his brain and heart: heidicon.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/pool/palatina/sig/germ.%20848

Here is another set of minis. This time people of faith...sort off... al least visually Here for full res image anf somewhat lengthy description. Enjoy. For your next trick I vote for a mini of this dude who is far too happy to have a sword through his brain and heart: Yeah. If you think this one is funny try googlilng Maciejowski Bilbe for an orgy of skulls crushed, limbs chopped off, guts flowing all with serene smiles on faces of subject patients.

THESE. ARE. MAGNIFICENT.
Just getting back into paper figs (I am finally selling off my 3d stuff), and... well... who ever would have thought that I'd walk in such august company! To have met the Holy Roman Emperor!
I shall proceed to ruin these (sorry)by printing them as side-on figures with no true right and left (Patrick Crusiau style, so they match my collection, which is mostly of his figs.
The two exceptions will be the king and the emperor. First because, sitting in their thrones and facing out, side on really won't work, and second, well, what's the point of a king without a back? Then he couldn't be stabbed in it!
Really, thanks ever so much for these. My campaigns tend to be very political, involving a lot of wars and intrigue, and these are the perfect addition.

Hi All. Necromancy in work again. After an unforgivable break, life stopped kicking my ass enough for me to return to Codex Manesse with a new broader general theme "Beyond the Court" that will cover a wider range of topics. First topic - the hunt. For start meet medieval hunting party of Heinrich Hetzbold of Wissense. A little description on the lore background of this set under link below. Enjoy.

Welcome back! Great to have a resumption of this series of minis! They are cast metal minis, but this recently-ended KickStarter - Medieval Marginalia Miniatures 2 - could maybe spark a few further ideas for some very different medieval minis?

Yeah. Marginalia seem to be a popular topic nowdays. Another example is Inkulinati on Steam. They are very interesting but already somewhat occupied territory. I do not plan to include them en masse in Codex miniatures (some maybe show up in limited number). I do however, in a sense, take inspiration from it for my bigger upcoming personal project Chronica Goblinorum, but not in a direct way. More on it later.
