The theme for this months HOARD is Mutant Apocalypse! This can be any sort of miniature on the above theme or feel free to submit miniatures off theme. If you submit a figure, they must include both front and rear art, have a proper trimming outline, and include instructions for multi-part models. Recolors and figure mods are encouraged, and even uncolored designs are welcome. No nudity or sexuality, but bloody gory and horrifying is encouraged. If you have questions about how to design your figures, like formats, resolution, and stuff like that, see the HOARD GUIDELINES in this forum category. Entries for the Hoard will be accepted until the last day of October.

Mutants, survivors, deranged robots, plague zombies, science teams, all kinds of possibilities! I'm working on a rotting survivor and a flying killer gas bag with tentacles.

Brainy-bots! Cool. Call me a newb, but I just found out last night that there is a free set of tabletop wargame rules for Fallout:Tactics. I'm reading this weekend to figure out how best to fight the mutant robot menace of the post-apocalyptic future. And I'm doodling robots.

Will get these resized and up for starters. Hybrid bio artillery. Inspired by Jim, but all new artwork. Low res print out for mock ups. Based on Jim's Hybrids, all re-drawn though, so no cut and paste, this is some heavy support for them, currently in 15mm (this model is only 3cm long). I think I've managed to match the colours pretty well.

Yowza! Will you be able to upscale that without losing resolution? Always love to see more bugs.

All in vectors using Inkscape....... I can make him the size of a Buick at 300 dpi. Looks much better without the shoddy quality printing!

This is based on one of Jim's old and unfinished alien sketches and I'm working with it to learn how to dance in Canvas. At this point he is a very rough work of an ancient security borg.

I always forget what a bad idea it is to post wip images when I'm under the weather, that first rough looks like...poo...this is getting closer as I learn more about how Canvas works and where all of the effects are. It's a different learning curve than Photoshop but can do some nice things that PS can't, well, my version of PS anyways. Got my feet under me again so I can get my mutated offerings moving along.

Also, I read the wikipedia summary of Fallout:Tactics and at one point the Brotherhood fight an army of Ghouls. So: Ghoul Trooper (work in progress)

Thank you very much, Aaron! Obviously they are great figures, as always! But, after a mutant for the new hoard, if you like, you do not distract too much from your next game. I can't wait for new previews and beta rules ...

zygrott24 and aaron - zygrott24 asked in last month's Forum Hoard about what needs to be done to prep mini submissions and i forgot to reply; 1) Please make sure your name/username is on the base tab of the mini 2) 300 dpi is the best resolution to submit your entries 3) Please have a clean front and back border around the mini as that will make it easier to build the cutfiles for the submissions. Thanks.

ok I am not completely familiar with the cutfiles? is that like the silhouettes printer thingy that pre-cuts stuff for you ... I dream of the day when I can own one of those. or am I once again way off the mark here? and I forgot my name on the base tab though anything I submit to the hoard is ( as far as i'm concerned ) the property of One Monk to do with what ever you want so really a by line is cool but they are your minis now LOL

Yeah - cutfiles are for driving a machine cutter like the silhouette sd or silhouette cameo. I was given 1/2 of my Silhouette SD as a christmas/birthday present, and I paid for the other 1/2. Even my wife is glad I have it, since it's helped with crafts for things like her parent's 50th anniversary, kids parties, her business cards etc. When it dies, I don't think she'll mind me springing for a replacement!

LOL right now I do everything with a dull pair of scissors from the dollar store and a rusty exacto knife ... I know I should get a tetanus shot or new blades ... i'm leaning towards new blades.

Hello Mr. Eerie, welcome to CBW forum and boy do you ever know how to make an entrance! That blood ooze is going to give me nightmares, and I don't even know it's game stats.
Nicely done!

LOL right now I do everything with a dull pair of scissors from the dollar store and a rusty exacto knife ... I know I should get a tetanus shot or new blades ... i'm leaning towards new blades. Whatever you do, don't skimp on the blade quality. I'm stuck with <100 crappy blades because all the art store had (aside from a couple bundled with a new knife which I didn't need) was a lesser known compatible brand (100 for $30). I've snapped off the tip of more than one in less than 5 mins, have had to put in a new blade after less than a page of more intricate minis, and have sometimes resorted to a decent pair of embroidery scissors rather than go through that hell. X-acto, in my recollection, is worth a little extra... I don't remember going through blades so quickly, and that was cutting matboard rather than doubled cardstock... But don't knock the dollar store scissors - I've actually liked them for the larger size. Of course, dull is dull... But I'm dreaming of a Silhouette for Christmas. Particularly for some of Reivaj's minis, Kev's skellies, One Monk's Halloween tree, any mini where someone is casting something (Imperfect Mage's Guild - I'm looking at you!)... Plus I've an idea for a basing variation that would be greatly facilitated by such a wonderful little invention...

Thanks for that heads-up Rhannon - don't know what we'd do without your encyclopaedic knowledge of all things papercraft sometimes! Folks, if you haven't checked out Mr Eerie's paper minis already you MUST do so with all speed. There are some truly astonishing creations, especially among the PDF collections here: papermini.eu5.org/default.htm . Be warned though; I found a couple of irritating pop-up box ads on first going to the site (my system usually blocks these, but didn't for some reason), an alert to download a character style to view the page (it's unnecessary, so don't bother), and a security alert when I tried to download the first set of minis, which gave me the option not to access whatever the problem was, and seemed fine thereafter. You may not find these, and if so great, but if you do anyway, persevere! OK, yes in an ideal world, I'd like more of the minis to have full backs, but as I've been thinking chiefly about dioramas lately anyway, that really doesn't matter, and what's available is simply breathtaking. If you thought the Blood Ooze was good (yes, me too!), wait till you've seen the rest - the Chaos creatures, the Egyptian and Oriental fantasies, the elementals, dragons, forest and plant creatures, and... And any fans of the (I think now defunct) collectable 3D minis game "Dreamblade" will especially enjoy playing "spot the mini" in the Strange set!

Sign your work so that in years to come when people are looking at your minis they know the artist responsible. It's a convenience to me if you add it to the base yourself.

I apologize - right after I posted I went back to his posts to see when I missed his joining - and found I didn't! And yes, indeed, the rest of his figures are just as delicious as this most recent one. They have the same sleekness as Cerberus Illustration or Eddnic, very nice. I notice that you are following Eddnic, @mr Eerie, friend? fan? influence? I do hope you will pop again soon!

Just had a thought due to aaron's pumpkinmancer submission, for anyone still in Halloween Wars mini-mode I'll bundle up any submissions in that theme into Forum Hoard #110-Halloween Strikes Back (working title).
Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the Forum...
