And as I type this, it's almost 3000% funded, after having met their initial funding goal in just 3 Minutes 7,959 backers $874,006 pledged of $30,000 goal 25 days to go and 28 updates so far today.... By the by... if Kicktraq's trend _could_ be used as a projection and things continued as they are going now, then Reaper could raise $22,428,406 from this campaign Realistically, they raised $3,429,236 through 17682 backers last time, over 30 days. I think they could do $5-$6 million this time 'round. They are new models to get even many of the previous backers interested, and how many people do you know who wished they'd backed last time?

Uh, thanks Squirmydad, for providing the missing link Here's Reaper's forums to follow along or comment w/o backing. Here's the Kicktraq link if you want to follow along with the crazy trends and more accurate predictions as the campaign contines.

The last kickstarter and this one now are the primary reason I have no time for the paper figures!
I have literally thousands of figures from unpainted, in progress and finished states.
I am pledged up on the new Bones 2 to the tune of $500 right now and will probably be higher by the end, so a thousand more miniatures to add to the pile.
One of the main reasons I did paper figures was to populate dungeons and make armies, now with cheap figures, and more disposable income I can wade into figures full bore.
The paper figures still have their place. JIM

I haven't painted figures since I was a kid. Now I've been spoiled by GIMP; if I can't do details by enlarging 800% I'm really not interested.

I committed to the basic $100 as soon as I heard about it, the very first day (still only got into the 4th wave). I saw what a great deal it was last time, and wished I'd been in on it when I learned about it. It's not such a great deal this time round, with less interesting figures (IMHO, YMMV), and looking at $50 or more for shipping, taxes, and customs for Canadians (worse for ROW), the cost is a lot higher. And to be honest, I'm not sure I want to get into painting fresh figures at all. While my luck has been hit and miss buying prepainted randoms from Paizo/Wizkids' Pathfinder line, I've found some decent bargain-bin HeroClix that will take little to nothing to convert. But most of all, the work I've found among artists here is equal to any sculpts from Reaper or Wizkids, the cost and work on my end is at lot less, and the results will look far better than my absolute novice attempts at painting cast pieces would be. I may only be learning (and some re-learning) graphic programs like Gimp, but I can look forward to re-colouring and some modding as I progress. I've sometimes got input on upcoming figures, I can talk to the artists directly, I'm supporting their small businesses and/or their dreams, can commission something special, so much easier to store/get more/replace...
To sum up, I still find that the benefits of paper miniatures outweigh most of the benefits of Reaper's Bones II Kickstarter, and I may decide to drop my pledge entirely. I'll wait until near the end, though, just to be sure.

FOUR HOURS TO GO! Well, into the final few hours of the Kickstarter, and it certainly seems to at match KS#1 value and excitement. Highlights: Dragons Don't Share II - $35 for largest dragon this KS, plus 3 piece ruins, plus 8 adventurers! [expected to retail for $100 in early 2015] Khanjira, the World Breaker! - $25 for largest mini in KS, a tarrasque-kin [expected to retail for $70-$80 in early 2015] or there's also excellent bases, flat on one side, lipped on the other, plain black, comparable to D&D or Pathfinder pre-painted minis. A bag goes for $10, made up of either 50 x 1", 20 x 2", or 10 x 3""!! You can pledge for as little as $1 to hold your place, and up your pledge for add-ons until December 31st through their pledge manager and paypal. Otherwise, you're stuck. Check out this link that gives you a breakdown of each set, and mouseovers with larger images, often painted versions of the original metal figures, and gives costs for metal figure (where not a new sculpt). P.S. I'm also posting separately with images, since they are large. The links alone, below.
