I need some nice textured rocks for my terrain Im finally working on.
Does WWG offer anything like this as their stuff has the best textures? They have so many sets I cant find any rocks so far.

WWG's Hinterlands set has some rocks, as pictured in this . Mighty big purchase for just the rocks - they're pretty basic. But, it's a great set anyway, for all the trees and tiles (and the pile of kitbashed stuff that the set gains you).

That is a nice set, I just wish there was a few other sizes of rocks, somewhat smaller. But that might have to do.
Thanks mproteau

Alternatively, you could master the fine art of unfolding some basic geometries in Sketchup or PePaKuRa or something. I've only done some very basic stuff in this area. Making a stone texture is relatively easy (lots of tutorials for gimp and photoshop available on youtube)...
Hmm... Maybe I'll try it out this weekend - I really want to get better at making 3d props.

wisdomknight - I'm going to clean up those bitmaps so they don't show the lines and make a cutfile.

Cutfile attached. I'm working on a "patch" image to cover the dashed and solid lines, and also to bleed some texture into the tabs. These rock textures need some love. Papercruiser.com_Rocks.studio (31.89 KB)

Foo. The papercruiser rocks texture has a copyright notice that prohibits redistribution. That's too bad, as I have removed the dotted lines using a combination of texture stamps and healing brush in Photoshop. My rocks are gonna look great - but I can't share the texture. :-P
A note to folks giving stuff away, don't use restrictive copyright, use Creative Commons instead so that people can improve your work (you'll still get credit and everything if you want!)

I agree oldschooldm, that's the way to go. Will you email the artist your mods and see if he'll share?

I should have been on here earlier. OldSchoolDM, just PM Jesse over at papermodelers. I'm sure he wouldn't mind, as long as he could put the updated version on his site.

Nicely done, oldschooldm. I notice in the picture they have, the rocks don't sit very flat. The rocks I've built from WWG don't have a bottom face. Is it more likely to not sit flat if there's a bottom face? Or is it just as likely, and it all comes down to careful building? Just wondering if someone with more experience could chime in. I *am* going to use this as a first exercise to make some 3d props. I fired up Sketchup and PePaKuRa long enough to make a rock and unfold it poorly, so I have an idea of what I'm up against. I've been kind of burned out with my other papercrafting 'obligations' so this will be a nice distraction. I've made a commitment to start designing some models next year, so I gotta start somewhere!

That's not a very good build in the publisher's photo. Here's mine: I really like removing fold-lines from rocks, they look SO much better. Too bad my edging pens aren't lighter... The tabs are small, and the peaked rocks are a little trickier to build than normal, and some folks might have problems getting them to lay flat. I avoid the problem by gluing tabs in this order: 1: Loop-around tab and allow to set. 2: All top tabs at once (by putting glue around the top-inner-edge, not on the tabs). Allow to set a little, but get to next step while still partially pliable... 3: All bottom tabs at one (same gluing trick) - align all tabs and then place rock bottom-down on non adhesive fat surface making adjustments as needed to be flat and catch all the tabs. It's a bit of an art, but it works great. For the peaked ones, you can delay gluing the two tabs that align with the peak till step 3 for more flexibility.

I like bottoms. That way it is easier for me to attach little sticky dots to make them stick to the lexan I cover my maps with on the table. Bottomless stuff is flimsy (hard to store) and slides around a lot.

I like bottoms but now that I am using Terraclips its nice to cover the actual "clips" with bottomless props.
