As a few members have decided to share videos of their home towns via the shout box. I thought why leave it in the shout box to fade into obscurity. Post your Home town videos in this thread. To start things off here is My home town

Two questions: Who is "the monument" erected to and where is the brewery? Here is mine: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Obq42HOkG54 They actually include the whole separate city across the river in another province for the population numbers, and the casino, but otherwise it is a pretty reasonable representation.

Two questions: Who is "the monument" erected to and where is the brewery? The Monument was erected to acclaim Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, KG, PC,(as in the tea, trek fans) for the passing of the Great Reform Act of 1832. Don't ask about the brewery, that is a sore point. The Baltic is an art gallery actually located in the town of Gateshead, which is on the other side of the Tyne river. The river was originally the border between the county of Northumberland (Newcastle upon Tyne) and Durham county(Gateshead).

Here's mine I work at the first building to the left of the cathedral at 1:21. I still think that the cathedral would be better as a museum of science and technology. Separation of State and religion and all that, you know? I'm not a religious guy. If you get a little portuguese, there's this video that is much more personal than the impersonal architecture of Niemeyer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaHe4N_8GZcAnd this is how the people live in Brasília (in portuguese also) www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX0HN1rdLRM

My /home/ town is Colchester, in the UK - but I moved away in the mid-90's. Here's a video of the town centre (from YouTube, of course) www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7aP5D4sgB8Being the oldest recorded town in Britain and the Roman capital /before/ London, a Royalist stronghold in the Civil War and a load of others I should know, but have forgotten, there are quite a few museums and other places of interest. Probably. It's also changed a lot since I was last there (2001), so I don't reckognise most of it...
