Hello folks,
I am gearing up for a LOT of early releases in 2014. One of which is the new DM sets (along with new 3D models, maps and so forth).
I am going to be doing a Dwarven Stronghold that will feature some familiar creatures (only revisited), familiar characters (only updated) and more comprehensive rules.
There is also a couple of new twists to DM on the drawing board.
What would YOU like to see out of the new sets?

Hey David!
Really looking forward to all of your releases this coming year!
You know me though... I would LOVE to see a skeleton themed set and a lizardman themed set.
Not sure what you can do with those, but I know you'll come up with something AWESOME!

Just between us (since not a lot of people follow my posts), I am toying with some ideas about releasing more sets of "Squads of figures" instead of "Armies of figures." What I mean by this is thinking more like GW (the only time you will EVER see us compared), and just as they have a squad of Fast Attackers, and Heavy Assault... instead of trying to work ALL of the figures into one release, do smaller sub-sets. Each group will come with the appropriate cards (thinking along the lines of the CAMEL or ZEUS, with cards for ERA OF WAR and/or Deadly Missions: Epic Battles) so you can use the point costs to incorporate them into the various games. There will STILL be a core rulebook/codex (that will most-likely be included in the core figures set)but the rules themselves won't change that much. I *may* also include rules for constructing your own armies, with rules included in them. Back on topic: I have done quite a few skeletons, and have a few lizardmen (as top-downs, both on my own and with Immortal Knights). I did the skeletal lizardman in the set I did with Inked Adventures a few years back (which may even be hidden somewhere in the Hordes here). Depending on how soon I can resolve my current scanner situation, will determine how quickly I can get back into doing hand-drawn stuff. I LOVE renders, but they don't translate into figures as much as I would like. There is something nostalgic about seeing Darkmook, OkumArts,Reivaj, PERMES, Jim's, and dare I say my figures on the table in their hand-drawn glory. Don't get me wrong, I love the Deadly Missions figures, and the top-downs are FANTASTIC, but the detail is hard to capture at smaller scale (that is why my figures are a little larger, but still fit on a 25mm base). If you are wondering what I am talking about, here is an example of some stuff I did earlier this week...

Thanks for the feedback, BTW. As I re-read that post, I see I mentioned DM:EB. Yeah, that was supposed to be a surprise for the summer, but I guess it will be a spoiler. The main reason I did my tiles was to see how DM would translate OUTSIDE of a dungeon. That is all I am going to say for now. As far as the new DMQ3 set goes, it will feature MANY of the familiar figures you have seen in the past, and new ones, as well. A Coutyl, Dracolich, Griffin, and new goblins (ones that look more like the Warmancers goblins) are all on their way. Speaking of Warmancers, expect to see some REALLY cool surprises, too. :X

Playing around with some "Classic" Warmancers figures, and giving them a "new" look. The Pyromancer The Technomacer

Well, since I am revisiting some of my first (commercial) figures, I thought I would play around with the Necromancer. Her spell book always looked a little like a plate of chocolate chip cookies, so I eliminated it. I also removed some of her extra sashes. I like the simpler outfit.

The newest set takes place in a Dwarven Stronghold. King Rhastas, lord of the dwarves, sent a missive to the dwarves of the stronghold, and hadn't heard back. This vexed the king, and he sent a small party of adventurers to investigate. Upon arriving at the stronghold, a strange energy pulsed from deep within the mountain. As the adventures entered the great hall, LADY FAITH looked around an proclaimed, "This isn't a stronghold... it's a crypt!" You know the drill... "Deadly Missions"... "epic heroes..." "dangerous villains..." there are a couple changes, though! First off, the map tiles that are included with this set are NOT the ones from OLD SCHOOL DUNGEONS! They are from a different publisher, and his work is nothing less than AMAZING! (I can't divulge any information at this point, but it will be coming soon enough). There will be a lot of creature top-down tokens, and some really cool artifacts (not JUST swords this time). There will be some familiar characters (for example LADY FAITH (from Set 2) will be returning. This time, she will be wearing her golden armor, and dressed in her royal outfit), and new characters. The stronghold tiles are breath-taking, and will each have certain rules that apply to each one (similar to the way BUG HUNT worked). Furthermore, golems, constructs and undead will have something that makes them EVEN better! All-in-all, if you aren't a fan of Deadly Missions, or haven't played it yet, this will be your chance to break into a great game! This set will be compatible with ALL Deadly Missions genres (Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror and Steam-Punk). We are considering including all-inclusive rules so people can pick this up, and be ready to roll. I leave you with this image of Lady Faith... Quest Set 2 and Quest Set 3 versions.

If you are wondering what I am talking about, here is an example of some stuff I did earlier this week... Sorry I've not been chiming in, things have been rather hectic on the homefront the last couple of months, and while I usually get to skim the forums, my responses are the kind I can get off quickly without much thought (even if they might need them, sometimes I do hope that you can get back to doing the hand-drawn figures, because that is what drew me to your work in the first place, and what the bulk of my purchases have been. In your own big sale a month (?) or so ago, I finally picked up the last of the hand-drawn I was missing, and their accompanying rule-sets. Unfortunately I've not gotten around to playing anything of yours yet, as a combination of printer/ink/toner issues, gaming group not coming together, and life have frustrated my efforts for any print-to-play games. The minis, though, I can at least enjoy all on their own. I'm afraid that most rendered figures leave me cold: I'm back at the tabletop instead of the computer for the human touch, and too often CG stuff falls in the uncanny valley for me. Vehicles, terrain, maps, all those translate well to CG, but not so much the human figure. I do know that it's exciting for you to see how your work translates to that medium (and they do look cool), and is easier to change/manipulate, etc. but I'll always prefer your vibrant hand-drawn minis. Your lich in Inked Adventures' Encounter Lairs' barrow is among my very favourite minis; I'd love to see him turn up again sometime. I am looking forward to the next DM, that stronghold? crypt? looks amazing!

Thanks for the input. I won't go into all of the details, but the reason I got away from the hand-drawn was due to the fact that I have a few laptops, and some work well with my printer, but none (currently) recognize the scanner element (it is an All-In-One machine). I am still drawing, and plan on doing another hand-drawn set once I remedy some issues. Things here have been crazy (family, holidays, work, yadda, yadda, yadda...) but once things level out, I plan on getting back to it. When you look at my top products, two of them were the Warmancers One set, and the Warriors of Tauria (my first two sets). Deadly Missions has done well because there are over 12 products. People like games that are well supported. Who wants to play a game that has one expansion and it dies out? DM is a fun game, and I play it a LOT! Every time it is a whole new dungeon. I love seeing the figures "come to life" in renders, but then again, there is only so much I can do with them. Let's face it... the Merlantean Hydromancer was a one and only style figure. I have a figure sitting on my scanner that rivals ANGUS THE BLACK (my favorite figure I have ever drawn). This new guy is VERY awesome. I have three sets of hand-drawn figures in the queue, but I can't finish them at this point. I have even approached MANY artist here who have given me permission to release their figures as a collaboration for Deadly Missions. I am not going to list them here, but some really GREAT stuff will be available once I get that part of the "machine" running again. So, to assure you, I haven't abandoned hand-drawn stuff, I am just trying to keep releasing things until I can get the issues resolved.

GRIFF CALLOW is ready for action! The iconic character (my avatar) is the first TECHNOMANCER that was part of the Warmancers game. He is back, and ready to take on such villains as Lady Scortch, Melchior the Fallen, and other Legendary Characters. Deadly Missions 3 is coming! Be ready!!
