Like a cat's tail...

The Dragon's tail looks rather stubby, making the dragon look graceless and lacking in agility.
If, where you have the tail bending to the rear, you were to bend it forward and extend it's length. I think it would improve the overall appearance of the beast.
Other than that the dragon really looks good, and far far better than I could draw.

Once again, you are right, CBL, but I tend to like a "straight tail" that you can physically wrap around, instead of a "folded tail." I don't think it looks too bad. I am considering recoloring this one to be a fire dragon (red), a golden dragon, and a third one... a Mystic Dragon. I wonder what color it could be. Orange? Nah... PINK! Nah... Blue? No, that is a polar dragon... What color? Hmmm.... I wish I could come up with a good color...

If you aren't familiar with how I do my 2.5D dragons, here is a picture. I keep the tails straight, and then you can mke them swish or whatnot. Yes, the tail DOES look short, but if I stretched out the image, then it wouls be about 8 feet tall (at the eye). I want it to be 12 feet tall. If I made the whole body longer, then it would ok, but the overall dragon would be smaller, because of space restraints. I actually think that the tail is fine in proportion to the rest of the dragon, it is just that the head is too big. I wanted to keep the detail on the head, so to make it smaller would have actually lost a lot of the detail. Just my thoughts... Final thought on this, the Pet Drake had a "longer" tail in comparison, but then again, it was the size of a rather large horse (hence the name "drake"). This is an adult dragon, not quite an elder dragon. If he stretched out, he'd be about 30' (10 meters) from snout to tip. A longer tail would be nice, *if* I could swing it (no pun intended), but I can't.

pavaro: I use permanent markers (in the U.S. we have a brand called "Sharpie"). I may have posted this before somewhere, but here is my full technique (minus Parduzing). 1) Draw in pencil, and clean it up as much as I can to where it looks like what I was shooting for. 2) Use black markers to "ink" it. I have three different marker sizes; fine (ball-point pen size), standard, and chisel-tip (for borders). 3) Scan it and use GiMP to make it "true black." 4) Print the "new" image and color it using the markers. 5) Scan the colored image, and use GiMP to "enhance the colors. That is it. Not very interesting, I'm afraid... much like me. I know that there are better artist that have better, more elaborate techniques, but this is "how I roll." Kiladecus, you're wrong has just because this technique is very cool . Similar to traditional painting and I like this.

Thanks. Some of my work has an almost watercolor feel to it. Here is another sneak peek... See, I DO listen to people.

He's beautiful! I'm going to take him home and hold him and hug him and pet him and name him George!
Anybody know who said that?

I know it from Bugs Bunny but it is rooted in "Of Mice and Men"

You're close. It was actually in Looney Tunes (yes, I know, Bugs was there, too), it was baby Elmira, whom all the creatures ran from who said it. But, you are right in saying that it had it's origins in "Of Mice and Men" You get the Gold Star, Cowboyleland.

If you like that one, you should see the Golden Fire Dragon! I have a few more to do, and then I can call the set complete! There is going to be 8 heroes, and 4 dragons (unless I get carried away).

Have you seen my Aelor's Magic Emporium? I'd like your opinion, if you wouldn't mind. It's in the Gallery.

Drop me a link in a PM (or here). I can look at it... although I am not the best judge (as you can see by MY work). Speaking of my work, let me side-track this post with another preview for the set. You know I love cleric/ shaman/ druids... and MERLANTEANS!

You know I love cleric/ shaman/ druids... and MERLANTEANS! I really like this guy. You should make a merlantean warband or something. Tentacle beards and hooded robes go really well together! By the way, I also liked how you did the chainmail on your other figure. I forgot to mention it in my first comment.

Not a bad idea! I may work them into ERA OF WAR. I wanted to include some of my "old favorites." I grabbed a few of my Warmancers and Era of War dragons. I wasn't going to include them, but I remastered them with high resolution, and improved the over-all look of them. Here is the CHIMERA! I am also going to include the two Tigrons, D.O.T.A., and the Dracotaur! I also am including a couple of figures, as well. I have one more "new" figure to do, and then the set will be complete! EIGHT HEROES! EIGHT DRAGONS! ...and a new ability (if you play DM)! Pretty exciting stuff, indeed! BTW- The chain mail and the chain weapon are used doing the same technique. It is called "Drawing LOTS of little circles."

Kiladecus tell me, do your figurines have two different site?
|
|
|
Post by kiladecus on Mar 5, 2014 9:28:27 GMT -9
For the most part, they do. Profile figures (like the dragons) are double-fronted (meaning they are the same on the front and on the back), but since they are profiles, it makes sense. You can also glue two of them together (except for the legs and wings), and make the figures like the ones in the picture above (2 dragons and two trigrons). The actual figures (and the ones like the chimera) DO have a back. Here is the final preview of the last Dragon Slayer, LORD MERRITTUS.

Oh I really like Lord Merritus!!! Looks like he has slain a dragon or twelve in his time.... Also looks like he may have killed a Melnibonean dragon rider and stolen his helmet too!!!

Very cool, both Lord Merrittus and the Chimera. Very cool, indeed! The whole set is impressive. Would love to see them all together.

LORD MERRITTUS looks ok... but you haven't seen THIS!
OK! This site is REALLY getting on my last nerve! I am sure it isn't the site as much as it is some funky _______ my computer picked up! Every time I click on ANYTHING, it throws me into an ad. It is ONLY this site.
I click to add image to post, I get a pop-up ad. I click on "kiladecus's projects," I get an ad. I have to close out of it, and I get ANOTHER one as soon as I click on ANYTHING else.
GRRRRRrrr....
Ok. I keep trying to post a picture, but I am getting the SAME results.

I like, I like. I still want to see them all lined up together, like in a family photo. What a shot that would make!
Aelor has been busy, thanks to your suggestions. I posted pics just a few minutes ago.

I just completed the 8 character cards. Once I finish the dragon cards, I will work on the cover page, and that will show ALL 16 figures.

My daughter woke me up at 2 am last night, and I couldn't get back to sleep. I finished all of the character and dragon cards, and converted them to PDFs. I am heading into work (on three hours sleep) and will try to get something together tonight. If all goes well, I may see this hitting the shelf this weekend or Monday at the latest.
