I'm looking for a good ruleset which would work well for solo Fantasy wargaming. As I've mentioned before I have a disability, live in a rural area and I tend to not go out much except for local trips which means that belonging to a club or travelling to find like minded gamers isn't really possible. Soooo if anyone can suggest a workable rule system I'd be keen to hear about it.

I would second the Two Hour Wargames suggestion. Have a look at Rally Round the King for those massed battle games. It also includes a campaign system that is easy to use. The forum is very friendly, and Ed's customer service is second to none.

And don'y forget dungeon plungin! A great solo dungeon crawl game, free from the lovely folks over at Oversoul Games, www.oversoul-games.com/there are a host of figures and terrain tiles too. Whilst you're there take a look at the pygmy's, flat out war (rules) and of course splatball!

All the terrain pieces and tiles are going to be useful too.

Been listening to a lot of Jeff Beck, Traffic, Alice in Chains, Page and Plant, Beastie Boys, Adrian Belew, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Yes and FrankZappa

Five Parsecs looks interesting, what is the actual mechanics like?. For me, a good solo game has "intelligent" randomness - Events happening in a sensible way, enemies acting like they should, but as little pre-programming (like Tunnels and Trolls solo adventures and ye olde Fighting Fantasy books in days gone by...)

Five Parsecs and Five Leagues give enemies different kinds of AI, whether they are cautious, aggressive, etc. There's a chance some of your guys go before the enemy, then the enemy goes, then the rest of your guys. Combat is pretty simple, and each expansion adds a little bit different kind of gameplay. The campaign is what makes it good, each campaign turn you get to do things in town, like train your guys, make some money, or track down enemies. And they have a reasonable experience system. EDIT: I have quite an extensive Five Leagues blog here.

So, since I cannot constantly force my wife to play Carnevale with me (yeah, we finally did), I had to come up with some other solution... and tortured Photoshop, once again. I present: An AI-Deck for playing Solo-Carnevale: bit.ly/3ewdfnKThis is the German version, but I'll translate it sometime soon...

This is the German version, but I'll translate it sometime soon... Nah! It wouldn't hurt the more anglo-centric of us to spend a bit of effort and time to get them translated ourselves! Maybe there's a mini-challenge there: Translate Shep's cards into English. It will take a bit more that just type the text into Google translate, as even though it is usable, it still gets a lot wrong.

That might be quite unfair without the corresponding glossary of Carnevale game terms. And since I was the one who translated the game from English into German, I have the means to transport my cards into the original game language...
