migibb: so be it! I guess something like this could be easily adapted for the purpose, in the future. dungeonmistress: (I like this game!) The chin definitely resembles Matt Damon's, but I wouldn't be so sure about the mouth. This makes me think that a fantasy version of the Bourne Saga would be kind of cool, though. Sketch of the day: Dwarf Warrior with Axe and Infinity Tankard!

The orc is great! He makes me want to run the other way! But, I love your treatment of the dwarf! Complete with top knot! The dwarf in my game also has an ever-full mug and a top knot. My dwarf was shot at by a bunch a kobolds and one of the arrows got stuck in his top knot. He decided he liked the look and so he left it! Funny Dwarves!
Yeah, I noticed the mouth wasn't quite there, but the chin is dead on! So who's mouth does he have?... Mick Jagger's? Edward G Robinson's? I don't know.

Love the dwarf Nemo - even in his rough from. Not so sure about the pose on the orc though. Looks a bit static and 'forced' compared to your other pieces....

I'm sorry if I had to use a lousy printer and a lousy camera (the one in my phone), but this photo should at least show that there are not many details that get lost during the shrinking process (I printed these two guys in a rough 30mm scale, the one I use for the Endless Dungeons). Know that I will work on the contours (they won't have these shapes) and that colors are brighter, seeing them "in person" I still have to work on them to emphasize some details, though.

very artistically done. And yes, you don't lose much detail, except on the archer's face. But that may be a function of printer and phone camera

You'd be surprised at how much detail comes through in most miniatures. And our Nemo is a master at detail work.

Kind of swamped at the moment, I had just the time to catch up with some previously agreed work. I'll be back on these guys as soon as possible, meanwhile this is the colored Dwarf I forgot to show you in his entirety.

Another race/class I always ignored while playing D&D was the Mystic/Monk. So I wasn't expecting to find out that it was quite interesting drawing one. I used images of Shaolin monks and female dancers as reference for the pose. Here and there I gave a look to the artwork made for Pathfinder and D&D (very beautiful, but maybe too "gypsy" for what I had in mind). As I said I am totally ignorant about this kind of character. So please let me know if there's anything wrong with the standard Monk/Mystic in D&D.

OH! I really like her! Her forefoot, the one she is about to kick with looks just the tiniest bit foreshortened, if you add just a little to the toe that should be perfect. Her expression is good, though her features confuse me. She seems to have a very 'anglo-saxon' bone structure, yet her eyes are very 'oriental'. I think a softening of her features may help there. Perhaps you could also adjust her skin tone to be a little less 'sallow'. Minor changes, really. I don't know if you realize this, but the dwarf you drew, is exactly how I picture the dwarf in my game! The only difference is the dwarf in my game has an arrow stuck through his top knot! Your are so talented, Nemo, it's scary!

Truth be told, I was trying to achieve that result I wanted her to have features that could at least seem acceptable both in Kara-Tur AND Diablo 3 (sorry, this is the first fantasy setting that pops up in my mind thinking of a character with a clearly oriental inspiration but exclusively European physical features). Meaning: I really had a purpose in mind, I hope it made it to the screen I don't know if you realize this, but the dwarf you drew, is exactly how I picture the dwarf in my game! The only difference is the dwarf in my game has an arrow stuck through his top knot! Adding an arrow shouldn't be that problematic, so I guess I can make a "Dungeonmistress' Edition" of the Dwarf with ease. Famous last words...

Nemo please tell me, it is whether here (at the forum) your tutorial "How are you doing figurines" ? Can you answer me some questions? What resolution (DPI) do you use when scanning and printing your sketches? Is your sketches are big? Are you adding colors and effects on sketches when they are of original size (big the size). Then reduce the size to the final scale? Or maybe first do you reduce sketches and then you paint? Sorry for the rather detailed questions but in this way I learn.

Actually I sketch directly on computer using my graphics tablet, most of the times. But I would say that 200/300 PPI is a good resolution for the purpose of making miniatures. Both in scanning a sketch made on paper or drawing it on PS/Gimp from scratch. The size of the image depends on the use you will have to make of it: I need these guys both as miniatures and illustrations, so I start with a 1500x2500 pixels "canvas". So I draw the sketch then I color it while still at that size and when I think it's finished I save it for the "illustration purpose". I resize it to an image around 400/500 pixels high (I use other images I previously made for comparison and get the right relative scale) and I work on this to add a contour and to emphasize details that may get lost while resizing. Then I use Scribus to create the PDF document to print and in this context I resize the final image (still 200/300 PPI) to the real size of the miniature. DPI depends on the printing device that you will be using, but roughly the highest the better (and that's way I tend to go to a professional print shop for this). So I guess most of it depends on the purpose of your image and your personal preference in drawing it. But that's my (ignorant) take on it: I'm sure there will be someone with enough experience and knowledge that will be able to direct you more precisely and to give a more accurate and easier/shorter process. Sorry for the rather detailed questions but in this way I learn. No problem, though I'm not sure I have something to teach Anyway, I hope I helped you

I'm slowly learning Sinawali as a way to improve my balance and help with maintaining my coordination, but I'm pretty rubbish at it. So in many ways this figure very much strikes a cord with me as if I didn't have this illness I live with I could very much roleplay this character for real. My hair is even the shortest I've ever worn it in my life at the moment, but I draw the line at shaving my head

And a Cleric/Priest I guess that eight Heroes can be enough for this first set, so it's time to work on backs and bases

I had to put on hold this project for a while, but now I am almost there: I should be able to release this guys during the next week, after tweaking the rear images. These photos I made serve the purpose to show how the level of detail adapts to the shrinking of the images (finally I could use a decent printer and an even more decent camera. Sorry for the flash, btw). And here is the Monk, all by herself

Per ora "niente di nuovo sul fronte occidentale" Toh, un altro italiano? Or german? Anyway, I'm sorry: either during the summer they (justly) take their time, or I messed up something while uploading the file. Whatever the case, they politely ask to wait at least a week before contacting them, so I politely oblige Obviously I will let you know as soon as I can.
