Just wanted to wish all our menfolk who are fathers a very Happy and Satisfying Father's Day. Being a Father is the most important job a man can have. It doesn't matter if you are the father of your own kids, a father to your spouses kids, or a father figure to to someone else's kids. What matters is that you put your heart into it and give that child(ren) the best you can. And it is by no small miracle that you survive fatherhood! May God bless you all! And thank you, From a daughter and a mother.

That is very touching dungeonmistress. I was so busy having fun with my kids (they gave me a croquet set) I didn't see this until now. When you play with the real rules it is like a combination of golf and billiards. Who knew?

That's what being a DAD is all about. Playing with your kids, listening to them (even the non-sense), loving them, teaching by example, being there. I think you are an example of a Good Dad. I am glad you had fun day with your kids.

Taught my elder daughter Cribbage, and then played some Legos with her yesterday. Good times were had by all.

cowboyleland - I have never learned the rules of croquet, but was surprised years ago to find out that one of my university friends actually played for the Scottish national croquet team. Which was surprising on many levels: 1) I never knew Jerry played croquet 2) I never knew Scotland had a croquet team 3) I didn't realise it was an international sport!!! Must see if I can get the chance to see a "test match" some time.....

(And here is where I belatedly post the reply that I did in fact post over on the Fat Dragon forums - when the CW is where many more of the friendly fathers reside! Um, more of my friends, can't really speak to the number of dads ) And yet another example of why I'm glad dungeonmistress is here... I could hardly have said it better myself! Happy Father's Day, men!!!!! Hope you can find time for both hugs and hobbies today!

I had to help a dyer at the Medieval Village portion of the Renaissance Faire as her fire tender for the dye pots last sunday. Very much a full-time dirty job. I did find time to celebrate Father's day in style though.

That there is a fairy tale waiting to happen. "Once upon a time a tired fire tender lay down across a seldom used path in the woods to have a little nap . . ."
