Is there any interest in 2d versions of the Chimera Hybrid Stalkers?

ooohhh neet! what's the 3D version look like? I think it should be a 2d model! only it's arm should turn into that sword so it's like a growth because it was created for sole purpose of killing stuff!! ... um ya i'll just go back to my corner now you can just ignore me...

They look like this; They're cool, but a bit of work to build in their current form.

As much as I like the 3D version I think that a 2D version would have its uses too.

2d would be cool for those in a hurry or that dont like to build stuff, but then again I love the presence the 3d models bring to the table.

Yes, - basically As @emergencyoveride says, the 2D minis would be great where some 'bugs' were needed in a hurry for a quick game or to try out a scenario. On the other hand the 3D minis would be good to have where something a little more imposing is required. I'd be more than happy to buy both kinds of minis.

That is a great idea! Finally I would have an incentive to build them (not a fan of 3D because of storage and complexity)

I love the 3d ones, but I need hundreds for my 15mm game..... 4 to a stand. 2d would be great . Multi based models are great in card. Our critical mass armies are looking superb. But I haven't made many 15mm hybrids yet.... Too fiddly

I'm working on a 2D version of the Metal Legion. I think it is apropos. Wanting to squeeze ALL Okumarts minis into my binder, I was steering clear of the 3d Metal Legion figures. I finally broke down and made some 2d ones: My hard-core kitbashing days clearly are over, since I opted to just make 8 grey robots with a variety of faces, weapons and antenna. I opted not to go all out and make a layered PDF for selecting arms, legs, etc. I totally *want* to do that, but I'm not gonna. :-P

I'm interested in the 2D versions for visual variety, and like where this post is headed.

I know this is kind of an old thread, but I hope this project is still in consideration! I would love to have 2D versions of all the Hybrids and I think they would look great too! Also would definitely be an easier version to make a lot of! I would definitely buy them! Edit: Tho I think the Buzzers would still benefit with a glue on Wings option, sort of a semi 2.5D look lol!

Is there any interest in 2d versions of the Chimera Hybrid Stalkers? Tho if I had to choose one it would definitely be the Hybrid Stalkers with all the weapon options, there my favorite and I'd imagine the easiest to convert to 2D lol.

Is there any interest in 2d versions of the Chimera Hybrid Stalkers? For the most part, I prefer my paper minis in 2D. 3D paper figures tend to look awkward and fake to me, and they lose most of the advantages in ease of assembly and storage that paper minis have over lead/plastic ones. Even 2.5D figures--otherwise 2D figures with attachable wings, for example--are often not to my taste. I appreciate it when an artist offers a pure 2D version of 2.5D models, as okumarts did with his dragons. So, yeah, I'd be more likely to pick up a 2D than the 3D one. For whatever that's worth.

I'm much more comfortable with pure 2d figures than 2.5d. I will admit that the 2.5d stuff looks great for the most part, but age is starting to take its toll on my hands and joints. They just aren't what they used to be and I can't hold them quite as steady as I used to. 2.5d modelling seems to have to be put aside for that which I can produce myself. Oh they joys of advancing years!

I really prefer the 2D because I am lazy. The 2.5D stuff is great, but why WHY must I do more work than is necessar? Related: with the new Warhammer 40,000 8th edition, these sets are a quick way to build a Tyranid force to try out the new rules. Oh they joys of advancing years! I always say that age-related complications are the price we pay for not dieing young.

Thanks for the feedback! This is an idea that I will definitely be getting back to this year, just need to catch up on a few other things. My initial plan that I started work on was to make a page of 2D stalkers (in three colors) and a page or two of stalkers with weapon arm options (in three colors). Won't be quick, but it will happen.

I just pulled the trigger on the entire Chimera 2.5D line plus the extra bits from Forum Hoards 9 and 11. There is a paper Tyranid army in my future.
