Here is a preview of both the Light and Heavy Cycles. These cycles are the support cycles in the unit. The main weapon units are still being worked on. Speaking of weapons: I used the troop rifles, mounted on the cycles, as their basic small machine gun armament. I wanted to give them the feel that they could be detached and used by hand if the troops decided to travel on foot. I also had a Hovercycle in the works too :

I was able to get a ton of test building done this past weekend and I wanted to show off the work in progress. Please note that I didn't do any coloring of the edges as these were just test runs and I need to update the outlines a little. First up Light Cycles! Special Weapon Light Cycle: Light Cycle Unit:

WaffleM : What thickness of paper you used for these figures?

WaffleM : What thickness of paper you used for these figures? The paper may look thick, but the miniatures are really small in 15mm scale. For a reference the bases are 40mm hexagons measured from flat to flat. I've switched to Hammermill Color Copy Digital Cover Stock. It's available in 60lb and seems to be almost the same as matte photo paper. The benefit is that it's available in 250 sheet reams and is way cheaper. For example: Staples has matte photo for $11.49 for a 50 sheet pack, or $.23 per sheet. Digital Cover is available for $13.99 for 250 sheets, or just $.06 per sheet! Six cents for matte photo paper quality!!! I've even seen it cheaper at other online stores, but Staples lets you ship to your local store for free.

Living basically across from a Staples, this is a pretty nice recommendation! I've got hundreds of matte photo paper sheets to burn through first, but I haven't seen their $1-after-rebate sales on the matte photo paper in about a year, so this might be what I fall back to. I see 80lb is marginally cheaper than 60lb paper. Any reason not to use the 80lb?

The main reason I went with the 60lb over the 80lb is that the slightly thinner paper might be easier to bend and fold for 2.5D minis. I've never tried the 80lb, so I'm just guessing...

Any chance of seeing these in 28mm? Cuz I'd love to use these on my tabletop!

Has anyone tried scaling them up?? I know someone has been printing a lot of 28-30mm at 15-18mm (One Monk post-apocalypse ones, I believe)... Just wondering how the detail on WaffleM's would hold out if printed larger...... I have never bought any of these as 15mm doesn;t appeal to me, but if they were usable at a larger scale......

It would actually be easier to do the model at 28mm scale and then shrink it down than the reverse.

Hear, Hear! I would really like to use these minis in my superhero games at 28-30mm. The heavy and light bikes shown here have plenty of detail at the size they are displayed at and so does the hover bike. I think they would do just fine.

I've been experimenting with scaling in Gimp for my Digital Kit-bashing and Scratch-Building... I'm almost tempted to buy this just so I can re-scale them.
I must ponder this.

Very nice!!! I'm looking forward to getting all of the models tonight once the paycheck is deposited into my account. I think doing a 28-30mm and then scaling down would make it an even greater value, as you can get a lot of detail in 28mm that can work scaling up or down. I look forward to making all the new models and perhaps even the cutfiles that aren't already made for them.

It kind of looks like their forums board has died or just dropped to nothing. I've been waiting for a mod there to approve my account so I can get access to the cutfiles for my SD machine, and it seems that they haven't been on in over a year there.

Thanks squirmydad!! I now have access to the boards and the cutfiles. Anyone wondering what I am going to be doing at work tonight? Taking pictures of your new builds? I just might. My phone is a rather cheap one with a cheap camera, so I am not sure how they will turn out. But I will definitely drop some pics here when I get them done. I'm also going to try and import/merge all of the cutfiles with the pdf's, so that I can dump a copy if I need it to my printer then cutter. I wish I could drop that library here for others to use, but I don't think AGG would appreciate that too much.
