Other Litko bases, actually the first ones I started using, were the clear acrylic kind with flight poles for my 1/600 scale sky galleons and starships. When I started making sky galleons I was making my own bases from foam-core and a toothpick that I would insert into the flyer with all of the game data for altitude and nationality on the base. When I switched to the clear acrylic bases it made for a much nicer, and sturdier, presentation of the playing pieces. Initially the bare poles didn't connect up well with the paper models but then they started selling these flight-peg-toppers (a little ring for the pole top) that created more surface area for adhesion.

I just love these bases. I'm concocting up an excuse to order more, even though I don't really need more right now.

I agree the bases are awesome. I got some a while back. I intend to get more, but I keep pushing that back in favor useless crap I don't need. HA! toilet paper. What a joke that stuff is. Those sky galleons though... I need to know what those are all about.

Those sky galleons though... I need to know what those are all about. Those are 1/600 scale airships for GDW's Sky Galleons of Mars game. On my old download page here; link you'll find models made by myself, Sgt. Webb, Domenech1776, and JustBill. You will need good tweezers for these. The rules are availble as pdfs here; rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/59094/Sky-Galleons-of-Mars-Cloudships-and-GunboatsI like them better than Aeronef, which is a buckets-o-dice system to me, and height differences and maneuvering are very important, especially in mountainous canyon terrain. I'm curently in the process of re-photographing and bundling all of the Sky Galleons models to move them over to my new main downloads section at OneMonk.com

Cool! I'm going to have to pick up a copy of those rules. I do really like the setting. Would you say its worth getting "Ironclads And Ether Flyers" too?

Ironclads and Etherflyers primarily adds 19th century naval nattles rules to the mix and is a stand alone game in it's own right. OBS also has a Bundle deal with Ironclads&Etherflyers, Soldiers Companion, Sky Galleons, and the old Space:1889 rpg rulebook for a $19.95 download. The SGOM rules are good, I always found the rules in Soldiers Companion and Space:1889 to be kind of clunky, but there's tons of great info and ideas in there.
Space:1889 has been redone by a German company and will be released to the US soon, they're also reworking the rules for Sky Galleons and that should be available this year. I supported their Kickstarter so I have a preview pdf of the new 1889 rules and I really like their updated version so I am hopeful that the new SGOM rules will be as good.

Sky Galleons rocks! Your first battle reports and paper Galleons all those years ago had me hooked at first glance. I ran right out and ordered the rules online and bought Mars Station and started building ships and canyons. Good time and great memories! This thread has me wanting to dig that stuff out and rebuild Fort Courage and the Wotan. (My first one was crushed and partially eaten by Catzilla) This is the rulesset I found online back then, it came with both: If I can get going on it today I will post some pics soonish.
