So decided to take a break from filling out job applications and did some test cut-outs of an One Monk Elite Marine and Chimera Hybrid Slasher in 20mm... these I managed to get printed before my yellow and blue ink ran out yesterday. Turned out OK, the Chimera get's a bit fiddly at 20mm scale, so I think I'm going to switch to a #16 knife blade in the future to get cuts a bit closer. I'll probably get a few more of these turned out this week, along with some pieces of Finger and Toe's Lima Zula and try to get some friends over for a skirmish game this weekend...along the lines of Space Hulk...

It isn't an Okumarts' marine. He is an old Onemonk ( now MiP ) marine.

I've cut some of the Marines at 15mm scale and I don't try cutting curves as it ends up breaking my blade tips. Instead I just cut series of straight lines and then color over any white edges with my dark sharpie. At that scale on the tabletop the black outer areas fade away as your eye focusses on the brighter interior colors. I haven't tried working with 15mm scale Hybrids though.

squirmydad, at 20mm on the Elite marines so far I can get pretty close, especially if I use the #16 blade, other than that I do like you said and cut straight lines. I'm still deciding whether i like a white or a black border for those areas I can't get close enough to.. I figure after 2-3 more Hybrids, I'll have a system worked out, with their edges they get a bit more interesting to work with. the nice thing about the #16 blade is that it is narrower but thicker along its length, and for really close quarters , given its different blade angle, can function as a chisel.
