I got both the Sky Galleons of Mars, and Ironclads and Ether Flyers rulebooks. I'm thinking about using the non-hex movement of Ironclads with Sky Galleons using paper miniatures. I haven't played yet so Im not sure what sort of scale I should use for cables. The recommended 6 inches seems like it would require a very large playing area when compared to its conversion on the Sky Galleons maps. Right now I can only really do 4x4 I also kind of want to know because I'll need to blow up the paper miniatures to be able to build them, but I don't want to get them too big. I swear, I don't know how Squirmydad can put those things together!

Offset tweezers. linkMy eyes and hands were better ten years ago too. SGOM is designed for 1/1200 scale, I made the models at 1/600 for build-ability. The cable lengths system from IC&EF is designed more for big naval battles, for gridless movement I just measured the hex size and used that as the movement and range multiplier.

Thanks for the advice. If you print the maps in the PDFs at full size it looks like the hexes are 2 inch's across. I'm not sure if that's the size they were in the original release, but it seem much more sane than 6 inches, and gives a little working room for miniatures. I'm not building yours at the original scale though. I will use tweezers to clamp hard to reach places, but using that kind of tweezers for everything is just not going to be fun for me. I might have to make some overly simplified 2.5D ships of my own from the deckplans. I would probably just use solid colors. I don't know though; I never finish that sort of project. I'll brainstorm about it for a while.
