Well, there've been a couple of images of my sandbox town for the game, but I didn't really want to do a big reveal until I got a lot further with it. I'm now getting there with it, so am posting some of my test images here. They're only taken with a tatty phone so I could work on my site. They're not the best, but they'll do til I get far enough on to get it into the studio. Anyway, here's some for your perusal... I also tried a few Photoshop water colour effects to try and make it look more, i dunno, rustic. Not overly happy with it so will keep fiddling, but here's a couple of them for you to look at. Any interested in the town itself, feel free to look at the site at quest.foolsjourney.co.uk. It's a very long way off finished, but hopefully I'll be happy enough to go with it by the end of the month. All feedback welcome. :-) Mike

This is awesomesauce! I can't wait to see the live-play photos. Something about players interacting with scenery like this brings the place to life!

Thanks Mr Oldschool. I love the interaction too. As I say on the site I don't like the "Kill! Loot! Level up! Repeat!" school of gaming. I like intrigue and games that are immersive wherever possible.
I haven't built interiors for any of these, but a number of them do have floor plans, including the Town Hall (DG Library) the Old Council Offices (DG Tax Collector's). The brewery is the next big project, and that one will have playable interior because I have a major story taking place in it... of course, being a sandbox, there's no guarantee that the sods will ever go in there, but hey ho. It won't all be Dave's stuff. There'll be some of Mystic Mountain's stuff too, plus anything else I think fits.
I'm looking at having the town square and surrounding buildings, with the West Road leading to the West Gate on one 8' x 4' board.
The town's west walls, Elysium Harbour and the Circus of Dr Lao will take up a similar size board. Got a lot of buildings still to buy for that one though so I'm doubling up on them for now. Berneart's harbo(u)r and wharves will be a must though.
The mines to the north and the forest of Pelbarad to the north west may be 2D for the forseeable future, though I'll probably be buying ZseZse's Elven walls if the forest renders are as good as their other stuff.
Priority now though is printer ink.

Just a quick question- would people like to see WIP pictures on this thread? Or do they prefer the aesthetic of a ready built environment? Is it something for another thread, or is that just overkill?

I like a mix of wips and "finished" in one thread. It is fun to watch stuff "grow."

Cool. Ta muchly guys. I've mostly finished my brewery (thanks to a small donation I think from one anonymous member here), but I'll take some piccies of it this weekend before I go any further with it. It's got some kitbashing in it too.

The whole town set-up looks really great. I just snatched one of your pictures and ran it through the "Old photo" filter in GIMP:

Thanks Alloydog. I like what you've done. As I said, it as become as much my hobby as the gaming it was intended to facilitate. I'm sure there's one or two here who understand that feeling.
