I'm currently in Lawrence Kansas, not far from KU, and will be here until Sunday for a family reunion and other festivities, like seeing a professional baseball game, that'll be a first. I have free time in the middle of the day on the first and second of July if anybody in the area wants to get together for a cup of coffee and a handshake. Vermin Kingcowboycentaur

Short week here, so it will be tight, but I can probably sneak out. Other than the ballgame, do you plan on hitting the metro KC area at all on the 1st and second?
I wonder if DCBradshaw is still in town. Haven't talked to him in ages

Not sure what's happening those two days, that's why they're open, we can probably pop into KC. We're exploring Lawrence and KU tonight and tomorrow, Royals game on friday night, family stuff on saturday and sunday then back on the plane.

Most of the companies I work with are closed Friday and closing early (non-disclosed times) on Thursday, so taking a few hours off Thursday should work. Since I live in east Independence, would your relatives like to recommend some place on the KCK side? Sort of splitting the difference. How come the other KC folks are being silent? Ideas anyone?

I live up north of the airport in Weston, I'll be at the same royals game on Friday and will try and say hello and maybe buy him a dollar beer if he's up for it. :-)

Sounds like fun. I'm heading out of town late Friday, so that won't work for me, though the stadium is less than four miles from my house

I did have an appointment in Smithville last week. Next time I'm up that way, I'll have to let you know.
What is Kanticon?

Kantcon actually, I spelled it wrong. It's a gaming/tabletop rpg convention on the 24-26 of July. Going to try to go to it providing there's some shadowrun or Durance scheduled. Went to my first gaming convention last fall and had a blast. www.kantcon.com

Ruh, Roh, George! So, does that mean Friday is the open day now? Friday is Worlds of Fun water park day, the Royals game is Thursday night so my day is free. It looks like tomorrow is going to be Topeka zoo day.

Topeka zoo isn't a really large zoo, but there are some very interesting elements. There is history in some of the older buildings. The geodesic dome jungle habitat is really great (at least it was when my son was younger). Nice amalgam of plants and animals. One time one of the giant fruit bats mistook my son's red hair for something edible...

We've been there several times recently and though it's a small zoo it's still very very good. Gorilla enclosure is very cool.

Cowboy went to a better Royals game than Eric did

Yeah...Royals lost. But now I have a better appreciation of the experience of a live pro game, tv does not even compare.

Oh yeah it was a hellova game, not only did we win but my wife caught a free tshirt and the people next to us got into a fistfight and got kicked out at the end of the 9th inning.

Been meaning to post this for some time; Although we were unable to connect IRL Vermin King sent me this lovely house, that's a 60mm version of me moving in. It's a little difficult to see in the photo but he layered up all of the trim elements to give them more visual depth and it makes the whole structure much stronger. Thanks pal.

I just seemed appropriate. Is this your first Christmas decoration up for the year?

I just seemed appropriate. Is this your first Christmas decoration up for the year? Yes, I thought I'd join the herd as the local stores all put their Christmas decorations out on sale starting September 1st. Seems a bit early but it does look quite cheery.

You should plan another trip to be in the area August 20, 2017 for the total solar eclipse at 1:08 PM. The path of maximum duration crosses the area halfway between KCI and St. Joseph. Cowboycentaur ought to have a great view

We'd love to go back, the kids had a great time, despite the heat, which is difficult for our Alaskan blood. I didn't get to see or do as much as I wanted since I spent way too much time on the phone talking to lawyers and annoying parents. Next time we'll leave the crisis at home and just pack our happy thoughts.
